Canelo cannot do anything while Triple G is holding and controlling the centre of the ring. I think Canelo is blowing steam throwing too many shots into Golovkin's traps.

  2. Round fourpublished at 04:31 British Summer Time 16 September 2018

    Alvarez v Golovkin II

Canelo makes Golovkin miss and then springs forward like an animal in the wild to chase his man. It's nip and tuck, high-quality practitioners.

Jab from Canelo prompts Golovkin to throw prompting Alvarez to duck and throw to the body. You move, I move. Chess match. The best shot of the round belongs to triple G though, a rock-hard right uppercut.

Very few scoring punches by Alvarez in this round. Golovkin is growing with tremendous confidence. Could this round be the turning point?

  4. Round fourpublished at 04:29 British Summer Time 16 September 2018

    Alvarez v Golovkin II

A stinger of a left hook from Gennady Golovkin. Well placed, well timed, it rocked that massive head of Canelo's. This is a good start to round four by the champion.

He works the body with 90 seconds to go with a left hook. He's not done much body work so far. Nice variety though as he lands a jab and another hook to the face. Canelo is losing this round, a minute to go...

I give that round to Triple GGG. He was more accurate with that jab. It's the difference maker.

  6. Round threepublished at 04:26 British Summer Time 16 September 2018

    Alvarez v Golovkin II

Alvarez bobs and weaves. Throws a right uppercut which is caught by the gloves. The Mexican is showing far more adventure than he did 364 days ago. A close round but Alvarez looks like he's moving well against the energy sapping jabs of his rival.

This so far is the jab versus movement.

The fighters are putting in so much effort, you can hear them snorting. These are heavy, heavy blows.

  8. Round threepublished at 04:25 British Summer Time 16 September 2018

    Alvarez v Golovkin II

Jab, jab, jab from Golovkin, nothing more than range finders. None landed. Alvarez has moved well and again manages to work his way up close to land. He sucks up a stiff jab seconds later though. These two are showing some silky skills, patience, patience, footwoork, footwork. Solid right hand to the temple by Golovkin but it mainly caught glove.

A minute to go in the third...

We have a fight. Canelo got that round with some nice clean shots. I got it 1-1 now.

Suddenly, the fight has exploded. If you miss, you pay.

  11. Round two...published at 04:22 British Summer Time 16 September 2018

    Alvarez v Golovkin II

This is a superb round from Canelo, he rocks back to evade a straight shot and springs back forward with this time a right uppercut. Again it lands. This is a man who has woken up after the first round.

A minute to go, Canelo has his guard up high, he's waiting for a trigger to throw... HE DOES BRILLIANTLY... evading a jab, landing a left hook to the body and landing a right to the face to follow.

Brilliant. The Mexican wins that round all day.

  12. Round twopublished at 04:20 British Summer Time 16 September 2018

    Alvarez v Golovkin II

Two jabs from Canelo, he starts the second round with more purpose and tries to slip a jab and get in close. He does so and tries to throw an uppercut. No real joy but it was better work.

An uppercut from Golovkin gets home, solid. And then WOW, Canelo lands a stinging left uppercut from range, that was beautiful, sweet as a nut.

Great round for triple GGG. Pop, there goes the jab. Canelo came on strong but wow, Triple G shut it down.

  14. Round onepublished at 04:19 British Summer Time 16 September 2018

    Alvarez v Golovkin II

Alvarez throws a jab which misses, prompting a brief flurry from his rival as they get up close for the first real time in what was the final minute of the round.

As this has gone on, Golovkin has found his range a little better. What he has done has been pretty efficient where as it felt like Canelo was searching for the right move a little more desperately.

  15. Round Onepublished at 04:17 British Summer Time 16 September 2018

    Alvarez v Golovkin II

A solid jab from Alvarez who takes the middle of the ring in his black shorts. He swings a left hook at Golovkin - in white shorts - but he evades it.

It's respectful, sizing one another up. A jab from Golovkin catches the gloves. Canelo jabs himself and looks to step in, swinging a follow-up which misses.

  18. Not a belting belt...published at 04:15 British Summer Time 16 September 2018

    Alvarez v Golovkin II

Now there are two belts on the line this morning as Gennady Golovkin holds the WBA and WBC titles at middleweight.

The WBC love making a special belt for these big occasions and they've not disappointed here. This beast is on offer for the winner. Yep, it's as bad as the one your dad wore down the pub on Christmas Day. The type of thing that makes the eyes bleed.

    Alvarez v Golovkin II

British heavyweight Joe Joyce has shared a nice friendly image on Instagram of him and his pal as they go about their training at Big Bear, California.

"I just want to wish my stable mate GGG all the best tonight! I’ve never been around anyone who puts the work in like he does! I’ve got no doubt he’ll get the job done tonight!"
