George Groves trainer Shane McGuigan in the corner: "You've got to swing in with the feint and throw your shots from your feet, George."

  3. Round sixpublished at 21:41 British Summer Time 28 September 2018

    Groves v Smith

A dance in the middle of the ring from Groves as he gets a jab off. Then, you can hear him yelping as he throws a one-two. Double jab from the champion in the final 30 seconds after he briefly stumbles.

He's not having it all his own way here at all. His title reign under serious threat...

  4. Round sixpublished at 21:40 British Summer Time 28 September 2018

    Groves v Smith

Lovely powerful right hand over the top to start this sixth segment.

It's chess-like stuff with moments of pace thrown in. Both clearly respect one another. I'd say you can see clearly that George Groves respects Callum Smith far more than he did Chris Eubank Jr as he's thinking about things far more.

They fight on the inside with 90 seconds to go and another long, straight right gets through from Smith on the ropes.

George Groves' trainer Shane McGuigan in the corner: "When your back's against the ropes, more side-to-side movement and then go straight to the body."

Callum Smith is down but it's a slip or trip. No count.

Heart in mouth moment for Liverpudlians everywhere. I'd say George Groves takes this fifth round for a little more work to catch the eye.

  7. Round fivepublished at 21:36 British Summer Time 28 September 2018

    Groves v Smith

Crowd watch for you, it's quiet, some roars when the action level lifts. Now some clapping as a backdrop.

Double jab from Groves on the ropes. He's pressed again though and takes one before throwing a right hand to the body. Smith's abs take it as if they are granite.

Ninety seconds to go, jab from Groves gets home, he waits for Smith to step in and lands a dig into his chest.

    Groves v Smith

"There you go, there is is," says Smith's trainer Joe Gallagher with praise. He's loud from the corner.

Groves has been better here though as we hit the last 30 seconds. He slips under a right and and throws a glancing left hook with his rival exposed. Better timing.

The bell rings, I'd give that to Groves. He's probably 3-1 down.

  11. Round fourpublished at 21:32 British Summer Time 28 September 2018

    Groves v Smith

I have George Groves down by one round, some may say three.

The right hand is next to his chin and ready to go. He's caught again though by the younger fighter. Callum Smith is using his size and range so well so far.

Groves, again drops his left hand so he can jab it up from low, he does, lands the jab.

Shot to the body from Saint. One minute to go...

    Groves v Smith

George Groves being patient, he has said Callum Smith tires, perhaps he's banking on it. Groves leaps in with a low jab but when he's in the pocket, Smith tags him.

The champion comes forward again but he's TAGGED AND WOBBLED.

That was a sweet hit and Groves is against the ropes. He covers up and throws three-shots in a combination to try and fight his way out of there. That's gutsy, admirable indeed, but he's behind here for sure.

Ding, ding, ding. We have a fight.

Smith's trainer Joe Gallagher in the corner: "All he is trying to do is walk you onto the right hand but yours has to be sharper."

  15. Round twopublished at 21:25 British Summer Time 28 September 2018

    Groves v Smith

Feint from Groves, he dances in and out of range, trying to draw something from the bigger man. Smith having none of it.

Groves cornered but feinting some more, threatening to scare his way out of there. Such a chess match so far and Smith tags him with a well-timed right hand which gets his trainer shouting words of approval.

Smith's round for me. It's cagey but threatening to warm up...

    Groves v Smith

This week, trainer Joe Gallagher was filmed telling Callum Smith to be really clever with his distance tonight. Be close enough to smother Groves but far away enough to be out of range.

So far he seems to be nicely positioned. Throws a right to the body near the corner of the ring.

Groves being backed up again as they grapple, the champion tries to dig a right hand in. Halfway through a close round again...

  17. Round onepublished at 21:22 British Summer Time 28 September 2018

    Groves v Smith

That one right hand from Callum Smith was eye-catching. George Groves crouching low, he loves to throw that sweet left jab up from a low position. There it is, beautifully through the guard.

Groves steps in but gets caught, nice timing and Smith catches him after the bell with another right.

Tight round. More shots from Groves, more eye-catching from the challenger.

  18. Round onepublished at 21:20 British Summer Time 28 September 2018

    Groves v Smith

Jab to the body from George Groves. He throws two and looks to step in but Callum Smith evades.

Feint from Groves - in black shorts with a Union Jack - jab again but Smith stings a right hand through. One minute to go...

In addition, there's a height advantage for Callum Smith, at 6ft 3in he has around four inches on Groves.

His reach is consequently bigger. So can Groves get up close enough times to make his mark?
