After precisely 12 months and six days of inactivity, Billy Joe Saunders shook off the cobwebs in front of a few early birds with an easy win over Charles Amadu.

It was all a bit weird watching the former middleweight world champ in action in front of a massive empty arena where you can hear every punch and call from the corner.

Not too long until the former Olympian is back at the business end of the division, one suspects.

The Ghanaian didn't come out for the fifth round.

  4. A night of senseless stupiditypublished at 19:52 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

    Why the clash of show?

    Frank WarrenImage source, .

Two pay-per-view shows in one night, so how did that happen and will it happen again?

It's proven hugely controversial and BBC Sport decided to sound out the two promoters behind the two shows to see what's what.

Frank Warren and Eddie Hearn don't get on and they've never actually spoken.

In summary, they told us tonight was "stupid", "senseless", "sabotage" and yet, crucially, said there could be "loads of clashes next year".

Here's Luke Reddy's full piece with both men.

It's an expensive business watching boxing. The Warrington v Frampton show is on BT Sport Box Office, with Whyte v Chisora on Sky Sports Box Office.

£20 for each show. So why has it happened tonight? Let's find out.

  7. 'I'm heartbroken' - Little on early stoppagepublished at 19:46 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

Price stops Little in fourth round

David Price, after a controversial stoppage of Tom Little in the fourth round: "The fans thought it was early. I love Tom Little as a man. He's a gentleman, I didn't want to see him in a heap on the floor so I am relieved the referee stopped it.

"I was only going to get stronger, I have trained unbelievably well."

And here's Little, who felt he was stopped too early: "It's a big fight and people come out to watch blood and guts. Nothing against David, but he (the referee) should at least let me go down and get up again.

"I know he's only got a split second to make a decision with our lives in his hands, but I feel like I had it ripped out my hands. I was hurt, but I was going back with my hands up - I'm heartbroken."

  9. Price wins in controversial circumstancespublished at 19:42 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

We've just seen heavyweight David Price gain a somewhat fortunate-looking stoppage win in the fourth against fellow Brit Tom Little.

Price, 35, had lost his past two fights and now moves to 23 wins from 29 fights. A defeat may have led to a retirement, but he gets a much-needed win.
