  1. Murray with his hands full in Manchesterpublished at 20:43 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

    Manchester - round 3: Martin Murray v Hassam N'Dam

It is a close contest for Martin Murray so far in Manchester against Hassam N'Dam, who has 36 wins from 39 fights.

Three gone. It is another big night for trainer Jamie Moore, who was in the corner when Rocky Fielding fought Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez at Madison Square Garden earlier this month.

That night ended in disappointment for the Moore camp, so he will be hoping for a better night tonight.

Kevin Farrelly: Mary Kom v Kristina O’Hara (Commonwealth Games light-flyweight final) definitely my fight of the year. Two skilful fighters going hammer and tongs but with subtlety, thought and respect.

Edwards v Rosales world title fight

Charlie Edwards strolls towards the ring, takes a deep breath and stares longingly around the O2.

    He looks focused.

Here comes Cristofer Rosales, a Nicaragua flag draped around him and the WBC belt lifted to the London sky by one of his entourage.

Dillian Whyte has arrived at the O2, but up next on the banks of the Thames...

Charlie Edwards has eyes on Cristofer Rosales' WBC flyweight belt, with the 25-year-old saying in the build-up to this bout he is extremely confident.

It's Edwards' second attempt at a world title after losing to John Riel Casimero for the IBF crown in 2016.

  6. 'Whyte has more to lose'published at 20:34 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

    Whyte v Chisora

    HearnImage source, PA

Eddie Hearn's move to put Whyte's rematch with Chisora on the same night as Josh Warrington's title bout with Carl Frampton was described as a "sabotage" move by rival promoter Frank Warren, who is behind the other show.

But the thrilling nature of their 2016 contest, won by Whyte on a split decision, created demand for a rematch.

Whyte has won four times since and appears close to a shot at WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, who inflicted his only professional defeat in 2015.

Just five ounces separated the two at Friday's weigh-in, with Whyte registering 17st 8lb 8oz and Chisora 17st 8lb 3oz.

Hearn has admitted that Whyte - who starts favourite - has more to lose, adding: "An injury, a bad cut, a loss, all those things can ruin the Joshua fight."

    Martin Murray v Hassam N'Dam

Next up in Manchester. Martin Murray, a four-time world title challenger and a man who took Gennady Golovkin 10 rounds, is in a WBC Silver middleweight Championship fight against Frenchman Hassam N'Dam.

Could Murray get to a challenge for a world title for a fifth time? He needs to win to keep those dreams alive.

    Whyte v Chisora

    AJImage source, PA

Anthony Joshua has Wembley booked for 13 April, will it be one of Dillian Whyte and Dereck Chisora climbing into the ring to face him?

"Eddie Hearn is dangling a carrot in front of me and Dillian - that's AJ," said Chisora. "Whatever plan Dillian's team have, ours is to bite the gum shield, seek and destroy."

Whyte's trainer Mark Tibbs responded: "We will meet him, greet him and beat him to the punch. This man is ready for all of them but we will not overlook Chisora."

  9. Battle of the fanspublished at 20:28 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

    Warrington v Frampton

    Michael Morrow
BBC Northern Ireland Sport at Manchester Arena

    Speaking of Manchester...

Beautiful bit of never-ending one-upmanship here between the two sets of fans, the majority of whom have now arrived.

'Ooooh Warry Warry, Warry Warry Warry Warry Warrington' sing the Leeds faithful.

"There's only one Carl Frampton (repeat), walking along, singing a song, walking in a Frampton wonderland.' reply the Belfast fans without hesitation.

It's loud and getting louder. If I was a judge tasked with deciding which set of fans, I'd give it to Warrington's lot on a narrow points decision so far.

Plenty of time left in this epic though.

  10. Conlan gets first pro beltpublished at 20:27 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

    Conlan beats Cunningham on points

In Manchester... Commonwealth Games bantamweight gold medallist Michael Conlan has his first belt in the pro ranks as he has just gained a unanimous points win over Jason Cunningham in their 10-rounder with the vacant WBO Intercontinental Featherweight Championship on the line.

Conlan, 27, now has 10 wins from 10 fights and nearly got the job done inside the distance with a number of crushing blows in the final round, but a very brave and gallant Cunningham deserved to hear the final bell, and did, but was on the losing side of the decision.

    The scores 97-92, 97-92, 98-92.

  11. Takam wants Chisorapublished at 20:27 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

    Whyte v Chisora

Here's Carlos Takam, who wants Dereck Chisora after beating Senad Gashi: "I don't know who will win (Whyte v Chisora) but I want to say good luck to both.

"And for Chisora, I want you! You are next - I will come back to the UK, I love it. This is my house."

  12. Takam conquers Gashi in round seven stoppagepublished at 20:23 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

    Meanwhile, in London...

After a cautious start, Carlos Takam, who went 10 rounds with Anthony Joshua in 2017, let his hands go in the fourth and fifth rounds but his heavyweight rival Senad Gashi, an Albanian with 17 knockouts from his 18 previous fights, fired back gamely.

However, in the sixth, Takam forced Gashi to pedal back after absorbing a strong right hand.

And the end came in the seventh after Gashi was dropped three times by the 38-year-old Frenchman with the referee not even counting after the third of those knockdowns.

  13. The main two arrive in Manchesterpublished at 20:18 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

In Manchester we've just seen some pictures of Josh Warrington arriving at the Manchester Arena with his IBF World Featherweight Championship strap.

For Carl Frampton, at the moment all he can hold is some food - in the shape of a banana.

Who will split with the belt later on? Remember, we're expecting a 10pm start for that one.

    Warrington v Frampton

    Michael Morrow
BBC Northern Ireland Sport at Manchester Arena

    Manchester Arena. Quality.

This was the scene at about half six this evening, needless to say it's now considerably busier.

The traffic within about a five-mile radius of the venue was, in a word, frustrating. But I guess that's what happens when you mix the last Saturday before Christmas and a world title fight which gives reason for two of the most vocal sets of fans in the game to descend upon the city.

I'm also led to believe that Manchester traffic is quite something at the best of times, so I'm glad to say I've experienced it first hand.

Anyway we're here now and everyone inside the 21,000 seater knows that this fight is just massive. The wait, finally, is over.

The man you can see gritting his teeth on the big screen is Nathan Gorman's opponent Razvan Cojanu, by the way.

Gorman won their heavyweight clash on points after 12 rounds.

    Anthony Joshua has just arrived.

  16. Boxing bout of the year?published at 20:11 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

    Luke Reddy
    BBC Sport boxing reporter

Fight of the year, moment of the year, where do you begin?

I'd say the stand-out moment of 2018 will unsurprisingly be Tyson Fury's rise from the canvas. It was a privilege to be there on a night that had everything from knock downs to skill and even a sing song.

But taking that drama out of things, I'd say the most intriguing contest which springs to mind was Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez beating Gennady Golovkin. That bout was just of such quality with two men at the top of the game, technically brilliant and it proved so, so close.

So I'll go Canelo-GGG in first, Fury-Wilder second and then slip Groves v Eubank in third. That was a captivating fight and when Groves's shoulder slipped out of its joint in the 12th, all bets were off.

What a cracking 12 months. Send your picks to #bbcboxing.

    Right, back to the present.

There is a couple of decent fights under way at both ends of the country...

In London, Carlos Takam - famed for stepping in and giving Anthony Joshua a run for his money last year - is facing Senad Gashi in a heavyweight bout.

Gashi has some splendidly festive green and red shorts on.

Up in Manchester, Northern Ireland's Michael Conlan is just entering the sixth round of his featherweight contest with England's Jason Cunningham.
