Until he went down Amir was having a pretty good first round. But Crawford held his ground as Amir stepped in and he timed his punch beautifully to perfection.

Amir Khan is hanging on in round one. We have some 30 seconds to go. Khan walked onto one clean.

He was probably winning that round until he took a sucker right hand, timed beautifully.

He makes it to the bell and gets back to the stool.

    Dear me. What an opening.

  3. Round onepublished at 05:11 British Summer Time 21 April 2019

    Khan v Crawford

Amir Khan covers up as a jab comes his way. Steps forward and throws a left hook which glances. Solid stuff from Amir Khan.

Terence Crawford lands a counter right hand HEAVILY.... Khan stumbles, Crawford stings him with a hook and KHAN IS DOWN.....

  4. Round onepublished at 05:09 British Summer Time 21 April 2019

    Khan v Crawford

Terence Crawford starts in the orthodox stance. Remember he can switch and box in both setups.

Amir Khan flicks a few early jabs. The Briton in white shorts, the world champion in a golden, yellow short.

Little happening early on, just a lot of feinting, flicking and getting some sense of range...

It's hard for me to see Khan winning.

If he did pull off this upset I really think Brits would take this as a super victory. It would be a front runner for upset of the year and go down in British boxing folklore.

Amir Khan, covered in a white robe, bouncing on the spot as his name is read.

Across the ring, Terence Crawford does the exact same thing as the crowd are told he's among the best pound-for-pound out there.

"Born, bred and repping Omaha Nebraska.... TERRREENNNCCEE BUD CRAWWWFORD."

I fancy Khan will take him past the sixth or seventh. It may get nervy.

I am convinced we will not see a Khan win but I don't think we will see a capitulation.

  10. Can Khan create doubt in Crawford?published at 05:05 British Summer Time 21 April 2019

    Khan v Crawford

    Paulie Malignaggi

Amir is probably on the way down in his career so the great question is how much of his greatness can he bring to the fight tonight?

Can he create doubt in Crawford? That's what he's got to do to start thinking about causing an upset.

Time for some introductions as the ring is lit up.

Our ring announcer smiles politely, rolls his Rs beautifully.

"Ladies and gentlemen, prepare t be entertained. New York City, this is the main event."

There's a bit of nerves in Amir's face but not in a bad way. They seem to be positive nerves and there's an edge in his face.

They could bring out the fire in him. He won't freeze under these nerves.

I think it's a bit of Jay-Z for Terence Crawford. He swaggers out into the arena as the lines pick him up and the flash lights illuminate the tiers...

BBC Sport boxing correspondent at Madison Square Garden

I think if Khan can recover some legendary speed over the first six rounds, allied to Crawford typically taking a while to size an opponent up, then Khan may take him some rounds.

But I can't see any other winner than Terence Crawford.

Amir Khan looks like he will walk to an Eminem hit.

    He enters the arena.

    The tune is 'Not Afraid'.

    Fitting.

The nerves will be big but this is when your passion burns most - world title fights in packed arenas. It's what you dream about as a kid.

Waiting to enter the ring at moments like this is where you get the butterflies and your juices start flowing.

Amir Khan stands at the door of his changing room. He's muttering to himself, perhaps praying or perhaps just reminding himself of what he has to do.

    Here he comes...

Crawford's recent form has been amazing.

Amir has had tough fights, Terence hasn't fought the same level as a whole. Those fights take a lot out of you.

I don't think Amir looks the same as in his prime. Crawford is ascending, Amir is descending.

Tobiason Pool: I am not looking at Khan's footwork or speed, I am looking at what happens the first time that chin gets tested. Crawford has a 74% ko record so he will catch him eventually even if it's the later rounds.
