I don't think Pulev is strong enough physically or mentally to cause an upset tonight. I don't think he can cause Joshua any problems - AJ will win within four or five rounds.

Kubrat Pulev has warned a historic fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will not happen after he lands a shock win.

Joshua knows a win could lead to him facing WBC champion Fury, a bout that would see all four heavyweight titles contested for the first time.

"We see a lot of mistakes from Anthony," said Pulev. "These mistakes, and the bad sides, stay. The most important thing is how I perform. When I am good, I beat him well. Right now I feel very good, strong and powerful.

"This fight is not only for me. This fight isn't just for boxing. It is for all of Bulgaria. Nobody from my country has ever been heavyweight champion of the world.

"After this fight I'm going to fight with Tyson Fury. I don't believe Joshua vs Fury is going to happen because I will win. The world needs a new world champion like me. I am the new world champion."

The atmosphere is really building here in a way we have so sorely missed. Finally we have got some kind of noise to accompany a world heavyweight fight - and how fitting it is.

  7. Anthony Joshua: Heavyweight champion talks Fury, Pulev and fanspublished at 22:26 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2020

"Fury [the fight] has got massive potential," said Anthony Joshua earlier this week. "But management-wise, promotion-wise, it's up and down.

"It's awkward and hard for me to know exactly what I'm doing when it comes to him," added Joshua.

"Imagine I am set to fight Fury three months away, and two weeks before the fight he pulls out. This is the type of character I'm dealing with.

"I'm just going to bide my time. When he's ready, he knows where I am. I'm keen, I'm a straight shooter. I don't want to mess around. If he wants to fight, he knows I'll fight. The longer he leaves it, the worse it is."

  8. 'There is a settlement'published at 22:24 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2020

    Steve Bunce
BBC boxing pundit at Wembley Arena

Last year when Anthony Joshua was preparing to get in the ring with Andy Ruiz Jnr at Madison Square Garden there was talk of a fight with Deontay Wilder.

The difference here compared to then is that it was just talk. There was no settlement about the money. There is a settlement over the money for Joshua v Tyson Fury.

  9. Start the singingpublished at 22:21 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2020

Anyone familiar with big Matchroom boxing nights will know they follow a great soundtrack, one you can normally set your watch by.

Gala's Freed From Desire comes on. Na, na, na, na, na, na, na etc, etc. That's a 10-minute warning for you.

So, so good to hear fans at a major boxing event singing along. How we've missed that. Next year could be absolute heaven for boxing fans with the amount of huge fights expected.

There won't be any bigger than Anthony Joshua v Tyson Fury. If it happens, of course.

  10. 'I would be thinking about Fury fight'published at 22:18 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2020

    Dillian Whyte
Former British heavyweight champion on BBC Radio 5 Live

If he beat Tyson Fury then Anthony Joshua can rightly be considered the best heavyweight fighter of our era.

So I don't care what he says, he may not be looking past Kubrat Pulev but he will definitely be thinking about Tyson Fury. I would be thinking about that fight too.

  13. 'Two different Joshuas'published at 22:14 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2020

    Steve Bunce
BBC boxing pundit at Wembley Arena

In 2019 we had two different Joshuas. The reckless, fearless Joshua who believed in his own invincibility. He got in the ring in Madison Square Garden, he looked at Ruiz and found himself on the floor four times.

Fast forward six months in Saudi Arabia, Ruiz gets in the ring and doesn't do a thing but Joshua does. Too much was made that Ruiz was poor.

Not enough was made about Joshua's adjustments - sensible boxing, not taking risks. What do we get against Pulev? The fearless, reckless Joshua? Or the sensible boxer? I am not sure.

  15. 100% recordpublished at 22:12 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2020

Fifteen fights, fifteen wins, 12 inside the distance. Lawrence Okolie should've been fighting for a world title tonight, he will be at some stage in 2021. He could be a huge, huge star.

Absolute brutal, brilliant dominance from Lawrence Okolie, who maintains his perfect professional record.

Jezewski gets to his feet after the third knockdown in two rounds but the referee, thankfully, says he has seen enough and calls it off.

Only the bell comes in to save Nikodem Jezewski. Lawrence Okolie absolutely dominates all three minutes of round one, to send his opponent down twice.

The Polish fighter is brave, but hugely outclassed. We continue, but probably not for long. A brutal right straight down the pipe knocked Jezewski down for a second time.
