    Hughie Fury v Mariusz Wach

The blood is still dripping down Hughie Fury's face after picking up that cut in the fourth. And it was a heavy, heavy impact as Wach moved up as Fury moved forward and bang. Ouch.

Wach, by the way, has got off unscathed, but the referee has already looked at Fury's cut twice. As it was an accidental head clash it will go to the scorecards if the cut stops this one.

Fury may well have the lead as we start the sixth of a scheduled 10.

  3. How to deal with cuts...published at 21:24 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2020

    Hughie Fury v Mariusz Wach

The man on cuts in Hughie Fury's corner is Kerry Kayes and he will have some work to do now. That's a bad one.

Here's a piece we did when Kayes told 5 Live Boxing about how you deal with cuts. It was one of the most well received podcasts Mike Costello and Steve Bunce have put out.

Click here to see what the fuss was about.

  4. An evolving Joshua?published at 21:23 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2020

    Mike Costello
BBC Sport boxing correspondent at Wembley Arena

I think we will get an evolving Joshua, one who fights his fight. One who is learning to be able to adapt to the circumstances. I think in the first fight against Andy Ruiz he fought our fight and the fans' fight. He has learned a very brutal, painful lesson from that night.

I think he will have prepared for Pulev in a different way. Ready to adapt on the night if necessary but with a very secure game plan. A plan from him and his team where he is not influenced from what us on the outside are saying.

It's a night where you can lose two fights in one because of all these hopes we have for next year with Joshua and Fury.

  7. Fury with a bad cutpublished at 21:19 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2020

    Hughie Fury v Mariusz Wach

Fury on the attack in the opening seconds of the fourth, landing with a powerful right hand that rocked Mariusz Wach.

That sees a great response from the 1,000 crowd, making the noise of many, many more.

However, it is not going all Fury's way and he's got a bad cut over the left eye after a clash of heads. Will that prove crucial?

Earlier on, Martin Bakole, from the Democratic Republic of Congo, overcame an injury to his right hand to beat Russia's Sergey Kuzmin by unanimous decision and claim the vacant WBC International heavyweight title.

Bakole got the verdict by 98-92, 97-93 and 96-94 margins.

A bright start from Hughie Fury in his heavyweight contest with experienced Polish fighter Mariusz Wach.

Fury's been on the front foot in the opening two rounds and is having some success with some brutal-looking overhand rights.

Wach did land a tasty uppercut in the second though. This one's a 10-rounder but you get the feeling this one may not go the distance though.

  11. 'Proud beyond measure'published at 21:09 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2020

    Mike Costello
BBC Sport boxing correspondent at Wembley Arena

    "Two-time."

The reaction bellowed by Anthony Joshua in our ringside interview on BBC Radio 5 Live after he had avenged his defeat by Andy Ruiz Jr to regain three versions of the world heavyweight title in Saudi Arabia a year ago this week.

Joshua was proud beyond measure to have joined the list of two-time heavyweight champions which has grown exponentially in this era of four recognised world sanctioning bodies. He also became a member of a more select group - only he, Floyd Patterson, Muhammad Ali and Lennox Lewis regained the title(s) in an immediate rematch.

Joshua's redemption mission continues, his preparedness to deal with the onus and responsibilities of a champion strengthened by harsh experience. The challenges emerge on either side of the ropes and are emphasised in the words of another two-time champion, Mike Tyson: "The heavyweight championship will drive people crazy, you know that right?"

  15. Hughie Fury in actionpublished at 21:03 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2020

While much of the talk is about the possibility of Anthony Joshua v Tyson Fury next year, Tyson's cousin Hughie is next in action tonight at Wembley Arena.

He takes on Poland’s Mariusz Wach (36 wins, six defeats, 19 KOs).

Hughie Fury has a record of 24 wins, 14 inside the distance, with three defeats, although those have come at a high level against Joseph Parker (in a world title contest), Kubrat Pulev and Alexander Povetkin.

Anthony Joshua and Eddie HearnImage source, Mark Robinson/Matchroom Boxing

Promoter Eddie Hearn, speaking to Sky: "I’ve been nervous all week. I’m always nervous before every Anthony Joshua fight.

"He’s always been a work in progress since turning pro. He’s been playing catch-up since then, but AJ is improving every single fight. He’s a much better fighter than in Saudi Arabia (against Andy Ruiz Jnr) and a much better fighter since beating (Wladimir) Klitschko.

"I don’t want to think about anything else until he gets the win. If we get the victory, all of a sudden that (a world-title unification bout against Tyson Fury) becomes the first thing I do tomorrow morning.

"AJ has worked so hard for this (fight against Fury) but this is the final hurdle. Get through this, then we will see two monster fights next year, but he has to win this fight by any means necessary. He can bore me to death as long as he gets the victory."

  17. Postpublished at 20:56 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2020

Although Anthony Joshua is not 'putting pressure on myself' it's hard to avoid the fact a mouth-watering unification bout with Tyson Fury is very much on the cards for 2021, as long as Joshua wins tonight.

Anthony JoshuaImage source, Mark Robinson/Matchroom Boxing

Anthony Joshua speaking to Sky: "It’s been a tough wait but there's nothing like the real thing. I'm looking forward to competing. I've put in 100 hours of sparring and I'm happy with what I've done.

"It's a good fight for me and I'm looking forward to taking him on.

"I’m not putting pressure on myself. I'm going in there to make it a good performance and that will lead to the destruction and the win."

  20. 'I should have just hit him there and then'published at 20:49 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2020

Yesterday's weigh-in got a bit lively as Anthony Joshua and Kubrat Pulev exchanged heated words.

Pulev, 39, goaded Joshua, drawing an animated reaction. The pair stood face to face - Pulev shouting, and Joshua waving his finger - with security keen to intervene.

"I would have just clapped him in his jaw there and then, but I have to wait," Joshua, 31, said.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the British boxer said he could not repeat what he said to Pulev on television, adding: "Many years I've been in boxing and seen a lot fighters talk a lot of rubbish, then they get smacked up.

"I know what he's like, I have studied him. He thinks he's a warrior. I said 'don't let the guys you've fought gas you up, you're in with a real one now'. When people come in the ring with me they are confident and then after a few rounds their soul gets destroyed. When I see that I can take them out."
