Quote MessageJosh Taylor, take a bow son. What a career up until now. What a performance, an unbelievable achievement.
Joe Gallagher is telling 5 Live listeners to recognise this and not dwell on the Fury-Joshua setback.
Joe, I'm with you. It was wonderful, gutsy and just epic.

Quote MessageThe judges have scored it the same way we did. Six rounds each, with the two knockdowns winning it for Taylor. That's how you win, that's how you make history, you go to Vegas and fight a guy in his own country and when it's going to against you you turn it around with not just one knockdown, but two.
They're hugging in the Josh Taylor corner.
Jose Ramirez is waving through a grimace to fans by ringside. The emotions are of such contrast.
Josh Taylor sits alongside the greats my friends. That's a small table he's sat at by the way.
The first British fighter to hold all four belts in a weight class in the four-belt era.
114-112
114-112
114-112
And now the undisputed light-welterweight champion of the world....
JOSH TAYLOR.
If you're just joining us at this time on a Sunday, we can tell you Josh Taylor floored Jose Ramirez twice but those moments aside, it was tight.
The cards are coming...

Quote MessageI can't see how anyone can have that more than one round either way. I'm convinced that could be a draw. I think I've got it six-six.
Taylor v Ramirez

Quote MessageWhat a fight. The beginning and end was Ramirez, the middle rounds was Taylor. I have it to Taylor by one point.
Jubilant scenes in the Taylor corner. He thinks he has it and those around him are convinced. I think he has it, but I've been doing six things at once so it's safe to say my calculus won't be all that.
Taylor v Ramirez
Here we go then. It was always going the distance wasn't it? There's so much on the line that it had to.
Josh Taylor thinks he has this as he's not over-committing. Jose Ramirez will have to walk him down and boy, oh boy do you know he will.
Ramirez unloads when he gets close with the desperation of a man who thinks it's now or never. Some 90 seconds remain. Taylor flicks out the jab, fakes to throw the back hand. Ramirez throws a jab-right combination but both miss. A left hook from Ramirez... misses. They grapple, 20 seconds, they grapple again. Go on lads, one more tear up, Ramirez throws the kitchen sink, nothing lands and BOTH raise their hands.
What a fight. To the cards.
Vegas baby!
Has it ever let you down?

Quote MessageThere is nothing in this fight.

Quote MessageRamirez is coming on strong. Taylor, you're in Vegas, you're going to have to win well here, you can't sit on the ropes, you've got to go and rip the belts away.
Taylor v Ramirez
Mike Costello tells 5 Live's listeners this has been "every bit as enthralling" as billed.
There are six minutes left, there are four belts on the line and there are two men emptying their souls in there.
A minute gone of the 11th and it's a chess match briefly.
Late in the round Jose Ramirez gets a left hand off and it freezes Taylor. The Scot is covering up, he felt that one and Ramirez knew it as he followed it with a barrage.
We go to the 12th. Surely Taylor is up with two knock downs. I believe he is but there's no doubt Ramirez has admirably dug himself a pit of hope.

Quote MessageRamirez is now chasing Josh Taylor. He might be missing but he's making Taylor retreat.

Quote MessageThe winner of these two rounds looks like it decides the winner of this fight
Taylor v Ramirez
Mike Costello is calling the action on 5 Live and he has Taylor a round up.
Jose Ramirez has hit the deck twice and yet here he is, launching body shots at his man as if fear doesn't exist.
Josh Taylor looks a little tired, can he afford to take rounds off and rally in the final couple? Maybe he thinks he does. Two flicked jabs from Ramirez get home, they caught the eye for sure. Taylor guides a right hook around the Ramirez guard. The ebb and flow my friends, this fight is a true journey.
Great work from Ramirez as he leaps forward and lands a combination, sending Taylor backwards.
A Ramirez round. What time is it? 03:41... Who cares?
Brilliant stuff.

Quote MessageThis fight is not over. I've got Taylor by two points, and that includes the knockdown points.
