  1. Round eightpublished at 23:28 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2022

Both men now fighting at southpaw. Leigh Wood makes a strong start to the round! He connects with a powerful right hand which rocks Conlan's head back. Wood is looking like a totally different fighter. My word. Still so much time left in this fight.

Both men trade left hooks and it's Conlan who comes out on top. Now Wood has his opponent on the ropes and is landing flush.

Then Conlan comes back with a superb right.

This fight is an advert for boxing!! Simple as that! Unbelievable. Do not write Leigh Wood off in this!

Leigh Wood has convinced me he has recovered from that first- round knockdown. Both men are hurt and both were caught right at the end of the round.

  3. Round sevenpublished at 23:24 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2022

Wood takes two purposeful strides towards Conlan and lands with a right - perhaps his best punch of the contest so far.

But Conlan is putting on a bit of a masterclass. Dancing from corner to corner, moving his head and keeping out of range.

Conlan bobs and weaves and then throws a hook to the body. Wood unleashes a flurry of punches and then, right on the bell, Conlan throws a looping left - just like the one which put Wood down in the first round.

These body punches could really be sapping the energy of Leigh Wood but he continues to fight back like the champion he is.

  5. Round sixpublished at 23:20 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2022

'Looping' is the perfect way to describe the shot which just keeps on landing on Wood's head.

Both men continue to exchange punches but Conlan is smothering Wood's work.

Conlan connects with two brutal blows to the body. He starts strongly. He finishes strongly. But a bloodied Wood won't buckle.

Those looping left shots from Conlan look pitch perfect, on the button every time.

That’s a bad cut around the left eye of Leigh Wood. He has one of the best cutmen in the business in his corner in Ian Johnson, but that’s another target now for Conlan to aim for.

Conlan is the better boxer, the more accurate boxer. He is putting in some accurate work on Wood's body.

Bosh! Conlan with pinpoint accuracy lands with to lefts to the head.

The Belfast fighter throws a two-shot combination while backing up. Classy. He picks off Wood with more jabs to the body, followed by a southpaw left straight down the throat.

Wood comes back fighting and lets his hands go. He will not give up his belt easily.

Four consecutive shots to the body from Conlan. Terrific.

    What a scrap this!

It was better work from Leigh Wood that round but he is rushing his work.

After that brutal knockdown in the last few seconds of the first round, caused by Michael Conlan’s brilliantly devastating overhand left, Leigh Wood has done really well to still be in this contest.

The crowd are loving this and rightly so, it’s been brilliant. Conlan is a constant threat with those overhand lefts, but Wood is not going to give up his belt lightly.

  13. Round fourpublished at 23:11 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2022

Michael Conlan's amateur pedigree is really shining through. Bobbing and weaving. Wood throws combinations and the crowd cheer on their home fighter, but there is nothing of note landing.

Conlan reels Wood in and throws a deft uppercut on the inside. A left hook and right to the head from Conlan to end the round.

Better from Wood but Conlan's round again.

I'm just wondering if Leigh Wood's head has cleared in that round. He looked sharper in that round.

Wood's movements don't look anywhere near as sharp as they did in the opening two minutes before the heavy knockdown at the end of round one.

Sweat flying off Wood's head as Conlan lands with some stiff jabs in the third.

Wood has the challenger on the ropes and manages to land to the body but his head still hasn't cleared from that first-round knockout. To make matters worse, there is blood dripping from the champion's nose.

Two heavy blows stagger Wood again! He's showing incredible spirit but he's really up against it.

Michael Conlan boxing very well indeed. He is operating exclusively as a southpaw. Michael Conlan is the busier fighter.

I think Michael Conlan got too involved there. He saw the knockout, he saw the victory.

  19. Round threepublished at 23:04 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2022

Leigh Wood looks like a rabbit in headlights as he tries to throw two rights. Completely off the mark. Michael Conlan is going for the knockout and is far too eager. A bit more patience and it could be finished.

How did Wood get through that?! Meanwhile, Conlan is cut by a clash of heads.
