  1. Round sixpublished at 22:10 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2022

    Agyarko v Rubio

Neither fighter lands anything of note in the first half of the round. Agyarko is putting everything into his punches, though.

Rubio is backed into a neutral corner as Agyarko does then have success with that right.

There may be some technical flaws in Agyarko's game - he can look sloppy at times and loads up his punches - but he is landing the heavier hits.

  3. Round fivepublished at 22:05 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2022

    Agyarko v Rubio

Agyarko has grown in confidence round by round. He's moving around the ring more freely and throwing in quick succession with those fast hands.

The Belfast fighter is crouched down and then lunges in with two solid rights. Single punches which Rubio should see coming, but doesn't. The Mexican looks to be tiring.

A beautiful crushing right hook from Caoimhin Agyarko in the dying seconds of the fourth rocked Juan Carlos Rubio’s head back and the Mexican, backed up against the ropes, was lucky the round ended to save himself from more punishment.

Agyarko has been largely the aggressor with Rubio often on the back foot, relying on quick counters but the left jab of the Belfast man is a deadly weapon and proving to be very effective.

  6. Round fourpublished at 22:02 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2022

    Agyarko v Rubio

Two wild heaves from Agyarko miss by a mile, but he then times a lovely right uppercut.

Concentration etched on his face as he throw a straight right which also lands cleanly.

Rubio is on the back foot and does land a couple of his own, but Agyarko ends the round with a right which rocks Rubio's head back. He follows it with a left. Very strong finish to the round - he seems to have found his rhythm.

  7. Round threepublished at 21:57 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2022

    Agyarko v Rubio

Agyarko is completely off balance as he once again lunges in, Rubio smartly countering.

Rubio shrugs off a body shot and one to the temple and comes back with a combination of his own.

Agyarko has used the jab sparingly in this fight but does connect with a straight left from an orthodox stance in the final seconds of the round.

  9. Round twopublished at 21:54 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2022

    Agyarko v Rubio

This continues to be a real technical affair as both fighters attempt to work each other out.

Rubio connects with a good left hand against his opponent's low guard. Agyarko counters as Rubio narrowly misses with a left hook.

A straight right lands on Rubio's jaw. Punch of the fight so far.

The Belfast fighter was a bit guilty of rushing his work in the first round but much better in the second.

"He caught me with his head twice," Agyarko tells his corner.

  12. Round onepublished at 21:49 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2022

    Agyarko v Rubio

Agyarko with the first attack of the fight as he rushes in with a three-punch combination, connecting cleanly with a straight right.

Southpaw Rubio counters with a solid right of his own. Agyarko falls short on a few occasions but then times an uppercut which lands.

A cagey first round, as they so often are at this leve.

    Agyarko v Rubio

Agyarko laps up the applause and cheers, swinging his arms side to side and then acknowledging the support.

Rubio was all smiles earlier but already cuts a nervous figure.

It’s filling up nicely with a great atmosphere and we’ve just had a bit of Gala’s Freed From Desire to give us a sing-along.

Next up is Belfast’s Caoimhin Agyarko, who has ten wins from 10 fights, including seven inside the distance, and he is up against Mexico’s Juan Carlos Rubio with Agyarko’s WBA International Middleweight Championship up for grabs.

I'll echo Michael's sentiments, so nice to see David Diamante back to full health. Brilliant MC. Top bloke. Great hair.

  16. Diamante back in action in Englandpublished at 21:43 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2022

    Michael Emons
BBC Sport at the Motorpoint Arena, Nottingham

Great to see popular ring announcer David Diamante back in an English boxing ring for the first time since a horrific motorbike accident in December nearly left him paralysed.

He returned to the ring last week in San Diego for the first time for the Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez v Julio Cesar Martinez super-flyweight contest, which Gonzalez won, but this is his first English show since the thriller between Joseph Parker and Derek Chisora in December.

After the accident, 50-year-old American Diamante said he had been told by doctors that the bone which penetrated his spine left him just two millimetres from being paralysed.

    Agyarko v Rubio

Juan Carlos Rubio is all smiles as he walks to the ring in a sombrero, accompanied by some traditional Mexican music. He has a record of 18 wins and one defeat.

This is a real step up for Caoimhin Agyarko, who confidently struts to the ring and fist bumps MC David Diamante.

  18. The 'Irish Canelo'published at 21:40 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2022

Belfast's Caoimhin Agyarko is a prospect who says 2022 will be his "breakout year."

The 25-year-old has won all 10 professional bouts and defends his WBA International Middleweight title against Mexico's Juan Carlos Rubio.

Speaking to BBC Sport earlier this week, he said: "I've got a target on my back now," he said.

"There are going to be a lot of middleweights who will want to take this title away from me. But in terms of my mindset, it changes nothing for me.

"This is just a step towards being the first black Irish world champion. It's just more motivation to train harder because I want more titles, I want them all."

There was a shock first career defeat for British super lightweight Sandy Ryan as she lost by split decision to Argentine Erica Anabella Farias.

Local boy Nico Leivars, from Mansfield, won on his professional debut in a points victory over Nicaraguan bantamweight Jose Hernandez.

Dublin heavyweight Thomas Carty moved to 3-0 as a heavyweight, stopping Poland's Michal Boloz in the fifth round.

And undefeated Liverpool light-heavyweight Thomas Whittaker-Hart won his sixth pro bout with a first-round knockout over Bolton's Ben Thomas.
