Vic Loughlin came to Josh Taylor’s rescue tonight, his 113-112 scorecard ensuring the champion somehow - somehow - kept his belts.
No wonder Jack Catterall is raging. He could hardly have fought a better fight. Astonishing scenes. Judging by some of the world-class swearing his fans are performing right behind me, they’re just as irate.
Taylor beats Catterall by split decision
Speaking to Sky Sports, reigning champion Josh Taylor says: "I thought I started a little slow but once I got into my rhythm I got him with bigger shots.
"He was trying to spoil a lot, going down a lot, he caught me with a couple of good ones I won't lie.
"It wasn't my best performance, I put a lot of pressure on myself with this being my big homecoming fight.
"I believe I got the win 100%."
When reacting to a question on the immediate reaction to the fight not going Catterall's way, he added: "Overall I scored the bigger and better shots, so I know I won.
"He put up a good fight that's for sure, but he never won the fight"
He also admitted that this fight will "most likely will be my last fight at 140lbs."

This is it for Taylor...
Oh dear, a point off for Taylor on the bell for a cheap, late shot on the chest of Catterall after the bell.
So cheap.
