Fury beats Whyte with sixth-round TKO

Tyson Fury is now unbeaten in his 33 professional fights with 32 wins and one draw.

Of those 32 wins, 23 have been inside the distance.

Good performance from Fury, but Whyte was completely shot from the first round, slow and lethargic offered absolutely nothing. His chance came years too late, punch resistance gone. Mismatch.

    Alan, Devon

I started by doubting Fury, then I began to admire him, and as I learned more about his struggles, I've started to love him.

  6. 'What a way to go out'published at 22:50 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

Fury beats Whyte with sixth round TKO

Speaking to BT Sport Box Office, Tyson Fury said: "First of all, I want to say I dedicate this to my lord and saviour Jesus Christ. In his name I won this fight in my lively country. In my England. We are Spartans.

"I'm overwhelmed by the support. I cannot believe 94,000 countrymen and women came here to watch me. From the bottom of my heart thank you to everyone who bought a ticket and stayed up late to watch this fight.

"Dillian [Whyte] is a warrior and I believe he will be a world champion. One of the greatest and, unfortunately, he had to fight me tonight. You are not messing with a mediocre heavyweight, you are messing with the best man on the planet.

"This man, SugarHill [Steward], has made the man I am. He has made me the biggest boxer in the heavyweight division.

"I promised my wife that would be it after the [Deontay] Wilder fight. But I got offered a fight at Wembley and I owed it to the fans. What a way to go out."

    Breaking

    It's all over.

TYSON FURY RETAINS HIS WBC WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE.

Dillian Whyte, after receiving that brutal right uppercut, gets to his feet, but he is all over the place and referee Mark Lyson waves it off.

A brilliant, brutal right uppercut by Fury. Whyte is down and in a lot of trouble.

  12. 'Whyte is getting tired'published at 22:36 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

Former world heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis told BT Sport Box Office: "Dillian Whyte needs to pick it up a bit more. Tyson is getting the punches to the body which is zapping Whyte's energy.

"That is why you are seeing Dillian opening his mouth and breathing because he is getting tired.

"Tyson is doing the right thing by staying on the outside. He is winning."

    Round six

A chopping right hand from Whyte from downtown misses by miles and leaves him stumbling forwards. But those are the risks he is going to have to take to get himself back in the contest.

He's going to have to gamble, hope he strikes gold and doesn't get caught when doing so.

    Round five

More good work from Tyson Fury, who is mixing up the shots to the head then the shots to the body beautifully.

A combination from Fury also lands, momentarily stunning Whyte.

The best news for Whyte is he's still in there after five rounds, the bad news is he is very much losing. But this is heavyweight boxing, it can all change oh so quickly.

    Round 4

Whyte, after a slow start, is having to try to draw Fury into a brawl. Two shots to the body from Fury see Whyte with a wild swipe that misses and leaves him off balance, but Fury can't capitalise.

It's getting messy, it's getting ugly. Whyte also has a cut over the right eye following an accidental clash of heads.

Four rounds gone, it's hard to make a case for Whyte winning any of them.

    Round three

A left hook from Fury lands, although the Whyte gloves soaked up some of its power. Fury smiles at that one. That's something to work with.

Some quick hands, a left, right, both landing from Fury. It's been a quiet start to this bout, and Fury, without much problem, has coasted into a three-round lead.
