I think Eubank was a little bit busier and landed a few more shots. He was holding a lot more as well.

    Smith v Eubank 2

Smith lands the first shot of the fight with a well-time uppercut as Eubank steps in.

Eubank is trying to work from the jab and is looking to hold when Smith closes the gap.

It gets a little scrappy and the referee calls a brief halt to the action to speak with both fighters.

Not a huge amount of damage landed by either fighter in the first three minutes.

In January, Liam Smith was the underdog and Chris Eubank Jr was doing most of the talking. Those roles have been reversed in the build up to this rematch.

Smith is the man with the momentum no-one expected at this stage of his career, while Eubank needs a win here to keep his status as one of British boxing's golden boys.

And here is Liam Smith. He's also got to meander his way through the corridors - it all looks a bit awkward really.

Initially it's fellow Liverpudlian Jamie Webster with 'This Place' that gets Smith in the mood before his favoured 'This Girl' by The Kungs hits and raises the tempo.

Fists are pumping in the crowd and after a short moment to take it all in at the top of the ramp Smith, wearing blue with gold trim, sprints to the ring.

Chris Eubank Jr was roundly booed as he entered the arena, but played up to the crowd, cupping his ear to the crowd before stepping into the ring.

He's fully embracing the role of panto villain for this audience.

Chris Eubank Jr is first to make his walk to the ring. He was heavily booed when the pair met in January and, on a night when we're asking whether it's repeat or revenge, it's definitely a repeat welcome from the Manchester crowd.

After a long stroll through the back corridors of the arena he eventually emerges wearing a Louis Vuitton co-ord to the musical accompaniment of Still D.R.E.

Not a shred of emotion on his face until he cups his ears to the crowd after jumping over the top rope into the ring.

  10. Predictions - 'More competitive fight'published at 22:47 British Summer Time 2 September 2023

Former unified super-featherweight champion Mikaela Mayer: "I'm hoping to see [trainer] Brian 'Bomac' McIntyre's influence in Eubank's gameplan. I believe there will be some adjustments on his part and it will make for a more competitive fight. Eubank Jr to edge the win in a close rematch."

Heavyweight Frazer Clarke: "Liam is great at breaking people down. I probably see [a knockout] after round nine because Chris is fit."

British light-middleweight Josh Kelly: "I think it's going to be a Smith win. I'm not sure if it's going to be in the same fashion, it could be a points decision this time, but I'm certain it'll be another Smith win."

The stars of British boxing are out at ringside tonight - Amir Khan, David Haye and Ben Whittaker are among those in the house for this one.

Joshua Buatsi and Dan Azeez are also present, and were in the ring earlier promoting their title fight in London on October 21.

We've also seen a fair few footballers in Manchester Arena, including England internationals Jordan Pickford, Conor Coady and John Stones.

Emma is right, the bangers are out in full force at Manchester Arena.

A very good rendition of 'Sweet Caroline' has just been belted out by the crowd.

I thought that would be the biggest crowd-pleaser of the night but it was very swiftly followed by 'Don't Look Back in Anger' - you can always rely on an Oasis tune to get the people of Manchester going.

  16. 'More on the line'published at 22:34 British Summer Time 2 September 2023

Liam Smith embraced the underdog status last time out against Chris Eubank Jr, but he has to be regarded as the favourite this time around.

Stopping Eubank in just four rounds was a remarkable achievement and repeating that feat will be tough for Smith.

Boxxer promoter Ben Shalom is, unsurprisingly, in the camp feeling Smith is a "slight favourite".

"It's a much bigger fight, there's much more on the line," Shalom said.

"There's no rematch unless it gets activated by Chris. People will say he's making up excuses as to why he lost, he clearly believes them.

"Liam will know he clearly believes them, whether he thinks he's delusional or not, he knows he chose this fight."

Azim beats Fanyan by unanimous decision

    Adam AzimImage source, PA Media

Adam Azim speaking to Sky Sports after his points win over Aram Fanyan: "I want to thank everyone for coming down and watching me. He was a good opponent. I'm only 21 and got into a ring with a guy who's had 25 fights. He's very strong, but I've got a very strong chin.

"It's another tick on the box [going 10 rounds]."

Azim's trainer, Shane McGuigan added: "We've guided guys through to world level quickly. This kid is an unbelievable talent. He's not going to learn with guys he beats within two rounds. It's best to get one acid test before going for the European title."

Adam Azim, at 21, is a real rising star of British boxing - and will have learned a lot from Aram Fanyan here.

Azim was reliant on his jab and deployed it liberally against the Ukrainian, leaving him open to some big hooks from Fanyan, with one particularly tasty left landing in round three.

Slough-born Azim will excite fans with his risky strategies, narrowly avoiding most of the big shots by millimetres as he attempted to attack.

But, Azim's lack of a big punch meant he struggled to finish Fanyan off as the Ukrainian tired, his 'go big or go home' strategy failing to pay off.

The atmosphere in the arena is simmering - they were not too enthralled by that bout. What this crowd wants is the main event, coming up next.

  20. Azim beats Fanyan by unanimous decisionpublished at 22:24 British Summer Time 2 September 2023

Adam Azim's unbeaten record stays intact and he retains the WBA Continental light-welterweight title.

Another good 10 rounds banked for the British prospect.

That's two successive fights he's gone the distance.
