I've just spoken to the team down at McLaren and they've confirmed that it was Turn One, Lando Norris locked up and went long so had to come back in and change tyres.

Not the ideal preparation for a man who needs and would like very much to be on pole position.

I'm quite surprised because it didn't look like a great lap by Lando Norris, the car didn't look how it looked in free practice.

It's going to be tight to have two cool laps so he's only going to have to have one and then one more shot at it, and hope that those behind him don't make any improvements.

  20. Postpublished at 15:42 British Summer Time

Oliver Bearman can't improve on his latest lap so he's out in Q2. Kimi Antonelli puts in a great time to go second behind Max Verstappen by just over one tenth.
