Oscar Piastri has been speaking after his P2 finish in the sprint:

"I tried my best to snake my way through the straights and not give too much of a tow, but I didn't have enough straight-line speed. Still a good result, good points and it's only the sprint, main race tomorrow. But yeah, annoying I couldn't get past."

On tomorrow: "The weather is looking pretty bad for tomorrow, we don't want to take off too much wing but at the same time I don't want to repeat the sprint we just had."

On qualifying later today: "I'm looking forward to it, Spa is my favourite track of the year, especially in qualifying it's mega. I'm looking forward to some laps this afternoon."

Real Madrid's Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was the man who waved the chequered flag and he's now posing for photos with the top three.

A few hours now before focus switches to Belgian Grand Prix qualifying. Obviously pole is the goal, but Max Verstappen showed that with the slipstream, second is not a bad place to be.

We've got three cars fighting for the lead within a second, but we've only got two racing laps left to do this.

  13. Postpublished at Lap 14/15

Well Lando Norris may have been thinking about it, but the opportunity for an overtake on Oscar Piastri has not happened yet and he's eight tenths behind approaching the final lap.

The battery use is very important because it delivers power, if you're running out of battery charge, you're running out of the ability to accelerate the car.

  15. Postpublished at Lap 13/15

Into the final couple of laps here and Lando Norris is thinking about the move on Oscar Piastri.

Lando Norris is told that Oscar Piastri's battery is at "mid-level", the implication being that Norris' battery is higher than his team-mate's.

Just 1.3 seconds separate the top three at the moment.

We've all 20 cars on the track now with Pierre Gasly having managed to get out for some laps.

I was waiting for the radio from Oscar Piastri to say that Max Verstappen was weaving down the straight because he definitely went one way and then the other, and you're supposed to only change line once.

Oscar Piastri is told there's opportunities to push down into Turn Five and the McLaren does indeed push now, the gap down the two tenths momentarily before Max Verstappen ups it a bit himself and the gap is soon back up to around seven tenths.

  20. 'Now becomes a mind game'published at 11:21 British Summer Time 26 July

    Damon Hill
1996 world champion on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

This is now where it becomes a mind game because Oscar Piastri is in his head thinking he needs to get past Max Verstappen. He doesn't want Lando Norris all over the back of him and having to defend because that will give Verstappen a chance to get away.

The drivers' championship is a factor even if you're racing in second place.
