The fastest lap parks itself by the name of polesitter Max Verstappen, who is about 11 seconds behind Lando Norris, but the Dutchman has already pitted and is only six laps in on his hard tyres.

Alex Albon is hunting down Kimi Antonelli for ninth spot. The Williams touches the gravel as he tries to find a way past the Mercedes at Turn One but by a few corners later, he manages to lift himself up and away from the rookie to gain another place.

Oscar Piastri is doing a really great job. What used to be a weakness of his in terms of managing that tyre degradation, he's now closing that gap down to the back of Lando Norris.

Adam: Why did Ferrari put Hamilton out on hards with 15 laps to go? Could have put softs on and had a go.

Another weekend where Carlos Sainz was involved in some contact. He didn't leave Oliver Bearman enough room on the inside, but he was way ahead at the apex, so I would expect there to be a potential penalty coming Bearman's way.

Did your phone just make a noise? Ours did. Emergency test over, Lando Norris leads Oscar Piastri by 3.7 seconds as the pair continue with this long stint on their starting medium tyres.

The yellow flags were out briefly as the Williams of Carlos Sainz is tagged by the Haas of Oliver Bearman. "He just turned in front of me like I wasn't there!" said Brit Bearman. Both cars were sent spinning, with Sainz now 14th and Bearman in P15. The stewards are going to take a look at this one.

Kimi Antonelli spies a chance to overtake Alpine's Pierre Gasly at Turn Three. Mission complete for the Italian teenager, who is now running in 10th spot.

Ferrari pull the trigger for Lewis Hamilton and put the seven-time world champion on to a set of fresh hard tyres. He comes out in ninth place behind Lance Stroll in the Aston Martin.

Over at Red Bull, race leader Max Verstappen makes his first visit to the pits to take off his mediums and bolt on the hard compound. He comes back on to the track in third place, so Lando Norris is now the leader of this Italian Grand Prix, with Oscar Piastri up to second, but the McLarens are yet to pit.

Jeremiah: The race looks like settled to a procession. We need someone to inspire excitement in anyway.

Tyre chat takes centre stage over at McLaren as Lando Norris is once again asked how he feels about the soft tyres. The Briton feels OK about it doing the opposite of leader Max Verstappen.

The front runners seem to be going for as long as they can on this medium tyre before perhaps swapping to a soft tyre to go for an aggressive but quick final stint.

Charles Leclerc takes over from George Russell as the fastest man on track on the hard tyre. Russell, meanwhile, has picked off the Haas of Esteban Ocon, who hasn't pitted, for seventh place.

Leclerc: "If we are not under threat, why did we stop now? Just want to know."

Engineer: "We can discuss it later."

"If we are not under threat, why did we stop now?" asks Charles Leclerc to his pit wall. His engineer replies they'll discuss it later. Leclerc locked up when he entered the pit lane, so will race control have one eye on that incident?

The entrance into the pits wasn't exactly smooth for Charles Leclerc but the pit stop by Ferrari was, so the Monegasque is in and out in a flash and rejoins the action in sixth place, behind the Williams of Alex Albon.

George Russell, on his fresh hard tyres, is clocking the fastest laps of the race following his pit stop. Isack Hadjar makes a chageover at Racing Bulls, while Ferrari also get ready to welcome a driver...
