I'm quite surprised by this, I think the conditions are not treacherous anymore.

Race control confirms it will be a rolling start after the safety car goes in.

Another lap behind the safety car. There's definitely drier patches on the circuit now and those rooster tails are not quite as big as they were before.

Lando Norris says the right side of the grid is a lot wetter than the left side.

    "It's drying pretty quick."

  6. Postpublished at Lap 2/44

Lewis Hamilton delivers more good news as he reports the track is drying pretty quickly.

I think the safety car will stay out a bit longer than two laps, however.

This spray will be lifted up, it will dissipate a bit but as we can see there's no wind to blow it away so it hangs between the tress. It's quite difficult to get rid of this moisture.

  8. Postpublished at Lap 2/44

The spray doesn't look too bad, but then I am sat staring at my laptop in Salford and not just above ground level in an F1 car at Spa.

  9. Postpublished at Lap 2/44

Oscar Piastri says visibility is better up to Eau Rouge but "pretty bad" after that.

  10. Postpublished at Lap 1/44

We don't get the excitement of lights out because the lap counter is already ticking down.

Two laps behind the safety car and then we should be able to get going with proper racing.

  11. Go! Go! Go!published at Lap 1/44

After an hour and 20 minutes the cars are coming out onto the track once more!

You have to make sure you've got your brain back in gear for the task ahead because it's no less important to go for this restarted race. If you're not careful you can still be in the relaxed and everything has been called off mode.

We are going to get a very interesting pit stop and changeover window between the intermediates and the slicks at some point.

The driver who gets on those slicks at the right time can eat huge amounts of time out of their opponents. It can be anything up to five to six seconds a lap quicker on the slick tyre if you get it on at the right time.

Isack Hadjar takes out his earphones and starts getting ready to get back in the car.

Others are popping their helmets on while Toto Wolff is almost squinting because of the sunshine as he pops out to check the two Mercedes.

The medical car is on the track and the driver of it is getting the biggest cheer they have probably experienced as they whizz past the stands.

Some of the drivers are getting suited up properly once more. Feels like we are not far away from some racing now, people!

This is yet another problem with the cars being too big. The things kick up so much spray purely by virtue of being massive, making wet weather racing impossible.
