Lap 68/78
Another lap comes and goes, the iconic corners completed and still there's no change at the front. Max Verstappen is 40 laps on these medium tyres and will be switching to the soft for the closing stages.
Charles Leclerc is not too far off the McLaren of Lando Norris but it's not enough to launch an attack on the Briton. Norris is second, Leclerc is third and Max Verstappen leads, but the Dutchman will be making a stop soon.
[George Ruusell] is there in the Mercedes pit box, the mechanics ready with the medium tyres. Bit slow dropping him back down and releasing him into the fast lane.
Williams have pressed the buzzer and Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon have swapped positions. Sainz drops back to P10 after George Russell's pit stop and Albon moves up to ninth.
All [Max] Verstappen is really doing by staying out is being annoying. He's not gaining anything. He can't win by this because he lost the pit stop window that he had to [Oscar] Piastri and if he pits he will come out fourth place, so what's the point of staying out?
The purple clock is still by Oscar Piastri in fourth but the Australian is six seconds away from leader Max Verstappen, who needs to make another stop, but he is creeping up to Charles Leclerc's Ferrari in third.
Williams inform Carlos Sainz they'll be swapping him and Alex Albon around soon. Sainz, in ninth, says let's wait until the end of the race, as you never know what will happen. Good thinking, Carlos. No need to take major risks. But there is the small matter of a Mercedes in between them.
Racing Bulls and Haas will be pleased if it stays like this, as Isack Hadjar, Liam Lawson and Esteban Ocon are still running in the points with only a few laps to go.

This is a bit of a drama because you've got Lando Norris closing up on Max Verstappen.
Verstappen has to stop one more time but why would he, something might happen, we still have about 20 laps to go and he's now backing Norris up to Charles Leclerc.
If you're just dipping in, hello! Pierre Gasly and Fernando Alonso are out of the Monaco Grand Prix, while the new two-stop rule has been, interesting.
Max Verstappen, meanwhile, who is leading the race, has only made one of his visits to the pits.
Oscar Piastri is collecting fastest laps in fourth place as his team-mate Lando Norris sits second, around eight-tenths away from race leader Max Verstappen.

George Russell was complaining about Alex Albon braking erratically and Kimi Antonelli had to go up on the kerb and nearly into the barrier to avoid hitting the back of the Williams.
Carlos Sainz comes in to the pits for his first pit stop - and so does George Russell for his drive-through penalty. Spaniard Sainz slots into ninth place, aided by his team-mate Alex Albon and his shenanigans with the Mercedes drivers.
