  1. Postpublished at 16:18 British Summer Time

    Warwickshire 110-2 (target 377) v Somerset

    Richard Wilford
    BBC Radio WM commentator

A good surface is one where there is a little bit in it for everybody.

Warwickshire members get very frustrated with too many games just petering out here.

  2. 50 runs

50 For Joey Evisonpublished at 16:15 British Summer Time

    Lancs 639-9d v Kent 374 & 209-7

He was the pick of the Kent bowling with 3-61 while everything else around him was being carted to all parts of the ground, now Joey Evison is playing a fine hand with the bat.

He joins Grant Stewart on 50 with a straight drive for four

    Kent trail by 56 runs.

  3. 50 runs

50 for Tom Lathampublished at 16:12 British Summer Time

    Warwickshire 107-2 (target 377) v Somerset

Tom Latham's 50 comes from 93 balls with six fours, I thought he had got there with a pull shot to the boundary but his Canterbury team-mate Matt Henry jogs around and hauls it in nicely to keep it to two.

Migael Pretorius then beats the outside edge next ball.

  4. 6 runs

200 Up for Kentpublished at 16:08 British Summer Time

    Lancs 639-9d v Kent 374 & 204-7

Three sixes in a row for Grant Stewart as he pulls this one over the long-leg rope.

At least the ball stays in the ground this time.

  5. 6 runs

50 for Grant Stewartpublished at 16:07 British Summer Time

    Lancs 639-9d v Kent 374 & 198-7

Back-to-back sixes for Grant Stewart who reaches 50 from 42 balls.

Speaking of the ball, that new one lasted one delivery as the box comes out again.

  6. 6 runs

Postpublished at 16:06 British Summer Time

    Lancs 639-9d v Kent 374 & 192-7

Grant Stewart clubs Mitchell Stanley over mid wicket for six.

Can we have our ball back?

Erm...no, bring the box out and pick another one.

    Kent trail by 73 runs.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:05 British Summer Time

    Jewell c Hammond b Singh Dale 83 (Derbyshire 177-1 (target 316) v Gloucs)

    A twist?

Miles Hammond leaps to his left to take a magnificent catch to dismiss Caleb Jewell for a superb 83.

The previous two deliveries had been smashed to the boundary.

Derbyshire are still strong favourites with 139 more runs needed for victory.

  8. Postpublished at 16:04 British Summer Time

    Warwickshire 30-2 (target 377) v Somerset

The umpires both were out there at 16.00 BST ready to go, but it says a lot about the game situation that none of the 13 players from either side joined them until more than three minutes later.

No-one in any hurry here, even the Somerset bus driver will have to wait until rush hour to get his chargers back to the west country.

Eventually we will see Jack Leach to Tom Latham (43*) from the City End.

  9. Last session of the match at Edgbastonpublished at 16:00 British Summer Time

    Warwickshire 100-2 (target 377) v Somerset

And probably the final hour too.

If they are not shaking hands an hour from now then Sami Hain, Tom Latham or Jacob Bethell are chancing their arms or Somerset have taken a few quick wickets.

    Stay tuned in case.

  10. 'Hain & Latham have shown resolve'published at 15:56 British Summer Time

    Warwickshire 100-2 (target 377) v Somerset - tea

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Despite two early wickets and all manner of imaginative field placings, it looks as if the combination of another everlasting pitch and the Kookaburra ball has defied Somerset’s best efforts to force a win.

Sam Hain and Tom Latham have shown no obvious interest in chasing the runs but they have shown plenty of resolve and skill to keep Jack Leach and co at bay.

The likely outcome of Somerset 14 pts, Warwickshire 11 pts will be a fair reflection of the relative performance of the two sides.

  11. Tea at the Riversidepublished at 15:46 British Summer Time

    Durham 327 v Sussex 361 & 292-5

    Zzzzzzzzzz...

Well that's maybe not totally fair as Danial Ibrahim (110*) has made a second first-class century, his highest red-ball score and a first three-figure knock in Division One.

He shared a fifth-wicket stand of 157 with his captain John Simpson (85) but this will be a draw and, with any luck, they'll shake hands around 4:50pm to save us all from more kookaburra-ball boredom.

    Sussex lead by 296 runs.

  12. Tea at Chelmsfordpublished at 15:44 British Summer Time

    Essex 296 & 314-5 v Hants 453

A superb session for Essex, who have nullified Hampshire's bowlers and taken a significant step towards drawing this match.

Hundreds for both Tom Westley and Michael Pepper mean the hosts lead by 157 runs with five wickets still in hand.

  13. Tea at Blackpoolpublished at 15:43 British Summer Time

    Lancs 639-9d v Kent 374 & 185-7

Lancashire took five wickets in that session and are on the brink of a first red-ball victory of the season.

Joey Evision (47*) and Grant Stewart (41*) have provided some late resistance but there are still 36 overs remaining in the day and Kent trail by 80 runs.

  14. Tea at Bristolpublished at 15:43 British Summer Time

    Derbyshire 169-0 (target 316) v Gloucs

Miles Hammond attempts to break this mammoth Derbyshire opening partnership in the final over before tea, but Harry Came blocks it out with relative ease.

Came and Caleb Jewell will return after the interval, requiring a further 147 runs for victory from a minimum of 36 overs.

  15. Tea at Edgbastonpublished at 15:43 British Summer Time

    Warwickshire 100-2 (target 377) v Somerset

Sam Hain is 39* and Tom Latham 43*.

This game should only have an hour's more play in it, unless Somerset take a couple wickets in that time and there is a potential false dawn of hope again.

I do not think we are quite at the stage as at Trent Bridge with the kookaburra ball last summer when James Rew took his pads off (Tom Banton and Tom Kohler-Cadmore are worthy stoppers) and had a bowl of left-arm spin for an over, but we may well see a couple of part-timers after tea, albeit most of this Somerset 11 are genuine bowlers anyway.

My money would be on Tom Banton as the first non-bowler to bowl if Rew keeps the gloves.

  16. dropped catch

Dropped catch & sixpublished at 15:41 British Summer Time

    Lancs 639-9d v Kent 374 & 185-7

Grant Stewart slaps a four down the ground but next ball should be out.

He launches one out towards the long-on rope but doesn't get enough on it - the catch should be taken but it goes down and even worse, goes down over the boundary for six.

  17. Postpublished at 15:37 British Summer Time

    Derbyshire 167-0 (target 316) v Gloucs

Derbyshire continue to move swiftly towards their target against Gloucestershire.

Caleb Jewell cuts his fellow Australian Todd Murphy behind square for four, with seven runs coming from the over.

They need 149 more to win at just over four an over.

Harry Came has 86, while Jewell is 74 not out.

  18. Postpublished at 15:34 British Summer Time

    Warwickshire 98-2 (target 377) v Somerset

Migael Pretorius does eventually get a bowl from the Pavilion End after 31 overs.

Craig Overton sets three catchers close on the leg-side, but Pretorius over-pitches outside off and is driven for four by Sam Hain with aplomb.

  19. 50 runs

50 Partnershippublished at 15:31 British Summer Time

    Lancs 639-9d v Kent 374 & 169-7

A brisk stand of 50 between Joey Evison and Grant Stewart for Kent.

The landmark is brought up in the grand style with Grant Stewart hammering Chris Green into the car park for six.

They still trail by 96 runs.

  20. Career best for Danial Ibrahimpublished at 15:26 British Summer Time

    Durham 327 v Sussex 361 & 281-5

Danial Ibrahim now has 109 and that surpasses his previous best of exactly 100 in the County Championship.

He finished with an unbeaten century against Glamorgan in September 2022.
