  1. 50 runs

50 For Jaydn Denlypublished at 13:51 British Summer Time

    Lancs 639-9d v Kent 374 & 77-3

He came in at a really tricky time for Kent and took a painful blow on the elbow just before lunch but Jaydn Denly has a maiden Championship 50.

It's taken him 74 balls with seven fours.

Kent need him to stick with it.

  2. Postpublished at 13:48 British Summer Time

    Warwickshire 10-1 (target 377) v Somerset

Action every ball here, suddenly I am almost having to do ball by ball updates.

Rob Yates inside edges just past the stumps, lucky to get away with that one, but then there is another vociferous appeal for potential caught behind, but nothing doing.

Both left-handers resorting to sweeps already as they look unsure if they can play Jack Leach off the bat foot with this early turn.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:48 British Summer Time

    Bell-Drummond c Jennings b Green 13 (Lancs 639-9d v Kent 374 & 75-3)

    Straight after lunch.

Chris Green picks up a second wicket of the day as Daniel Bell-Drummond loops one in the air and Keaton Jennings takes a leaping catch at short leg.

Not what Kent needed - they trail by 190 runs.

  4. Close!published at 13:46 British Summer Time

    Warwickshire 8-1 (target 377) v Somerset

It is all going on at Edgbaston in these first two overs.

Rob Yates edges just short of Craig Overton diving forward from second slip, his right hand is yorked, meeting it on the half volley, such that Matt Henry applauds the effort.

    Warwickshire 2-1 (target 377) v Somerset

Massive appeal from the fielders and the press box around me, even the neutral correspondents fancy that one.

A lot of turn into an early leave from Tom Latham.

Encouraging from Jack Leach to see that much spin, perhaps missing off stump, perhaps a tiny bit high, but only marginal on both, that came back a long way.

Psychologically Leach is on top already after that delivery.

  6. Somerset open with spinpublished at 13:39 British Summer Time

    Warwickshire 351 & 1-1 v Somerset 498 & 229-8 dec

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:38 British Summer Time

    Davies lbw b Henry 0 (Warwickshire 351 & 1-1 v Somerset 498 & 229-8 dec)

Matt Henry from wide of the crease, angled in on a full length to the home skipper and Somerset have a key early breakthrough.

That brings his international team-mate Tom Latham in for an early match up between these two pals.

Remember Henry won this battle in the first innings, James Rew catching him behind, but not until he scored 65.

  8. 'Game heading for draw'published at 13:36 British Summer Time

    Durham 327 v Sussex 361 & 186-4 - lunch

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

This game is heading for a draw after a wicketless morning for Durham

However the first hour was far from straightforward for Sussex with Matt Potts and Ben Raine making life uncomfortable for the Sussex batters

However Danial Ibrahim making his first Championship appearance of the season has shown great resolve and determination batting for over 3 hours for his half century, and together with skipper John Simpson have led Sussex to safety at lunch.

With a potential haul of 14 points from the game Sussex are very unlikely to set Durham a chaseable target and this game looks set for the skippers shaking hands at 5 o’clock

  9. 69 overs to play at Edgbastonpublished at 13:35 British Summer Time

    Warwickshire 351 & 0-0 v Somerset 498 & 229-8 dec

The pitch at lunch on day 4 on which Warwickshire need 377 to win.

A couple of footmarks for Jack Leach to target if he bowls from the City End to Rob Yates, Tom Latham or Jacob Bethell but it is Matt Henry to open proceedings to Yates with right-hander Alex Davies at the other end.

  10. 'Westley & Pepper key'published at 13:19 British Summer Time

    Essex 296 & 199-5 v Hants 453 - lunch

    Victoria Polley
    BBC Essex Sports Editor

Hampshire will be the happier of the two sides at lunch having picked up two wickets in the first session.

Essex will have to continue to dig in with the bat but there’s been positive signs with Michael Pepper’s half-century.

How long he and Tom Westley can build a partnership for will be key if Essex are to hold on.

  11. Bears need 377 to winpublished at 13:11 British Summer Time

    Warwickshire 351 v Somerset 498 & 229-8 dec - lunch

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Somerset's hopes of scoring runs quickly enough to give themselves 80 or so overs in which to bowl Warwickshire out a second time were rather holed below the waterline by the early loss of James Rew for 61 and Tom Banton for two.

It meant that they had to bat until just before lunch to set a target which they will hope has put the game out of the home team's reach, but the downside is that it has left them just 69 overs in which to force an unlikely win.

The pitch is still good, the ball is still a kookaburra and a draw remains much the most likely outcome.

There will be no hundred for Matt Revis.

Freddie McCann gets one through the defences of number 11 Jack White, leaving Revis stranded on 93.

Yorkshire lead by 23 runs and the players head off for a spot of lunch.

  14. Lunch at Blackpoolpublished at 13:06 British Summer Time

    Lancs 639-9d v Kent 374 & 74-2

The early dismissals of Ben Compton and Matt Parkinson had Lancashire eyeing a crushing victory here.

Credit must go to Jaydn Denly (48*) and Daniel Bell-Drummond (13*) for coming through some testing moments to steady the Kent ship.

    Kent trail by 191 runs.

Tom Westley batting for EssexImage source, Rex Features

There would have been plenty of nerves in the Essex dressing room when Matt Critchley and Charlie Allison both fell to Liam Dawson early this morning.

However, Michael Pepper has played a fine hand alongside captain Tom Westley to give the home side a fighting chance.

Hampshire need five wickets if they are to force victory this afternoon.

  16. Postpublished at 13:04 British Summer Time

    Lancs 639-9d v Kent 374 & 74-2

Jaydn Denly swallows a couple of painkillers after taking a blow on the elbow and there are three balls to go before lunch.

  17. Lunch at the Riversidepublished at 13:02 British Summer Time

    Durham 327 v Sussex 361 & 186-4

Sussex go through the first session without losing a wicket.

Danial Ibrahim and John Simpson have got themselves unbeaten half centuries in a fifth-wicket stand of 75 runs.

Sussex lead by 220 runs and we could be shaking hands on a draw just before five o'clock.

  18. ouch!

    Lancs 639-9d v Kent 374 & 73-2

Jaydn Denly takes a Mitchell Stanley delivery smack on the point of the elbow.

He drops his bat and is in extreme pain - we've got a pause in the game as the Kent physio comes out.

  19. 50 runs

50 for Michael Pepperpublished at 13:00 British Summer Time

    Essex 296 & 197-5 v Hants 453

Michael Pepper has come out with real intent since the dismissal of Matt Critchley and the Essex keeper moves to 50 with a delightful flick over midwicket that skips away for four.

    And on his birthday too.

The hosts now lead by 40, but they need plenty more with just five wickets in hand.

  20. Declaration & lunch at Edgbastonpublished at 12:56 British Summer Time

    Warwickshire 351 v Somerset 498 & 229-8 dec

A rather odd passage of play this morning.

Somerset surely have had more than enough to make this game safe for some while yet.

But this ball and hybrid pitch has left them particularly cautious.

They lead by 376, Warwickshire will have 69 overs to get them in.

If they get it it would be their sixth highest chase in first-class history, and with an impressively good run rate to do so.
