    Aston Villa 0-1 Tottenham

It's a defensive mix-up for Tottenham and Rachel Daly tries an audacious overhead to level it but can't connect well.

Missy Bo Kearns is stood arms wide out in acres of space staring at Daly.

I'd like to see a little bit more pace on the crosses for Aston Villa because generally I think Tottenham they're taller than the Villa forwards so they need to try something different.

They need to think about the types of crosses in wide areas.

We've not seen much from Jess Naz in an attacking sense but she's been brilliant in running back and helping her defence out. You feel she'll have to do plenty of that in this half.

  4. KICK-OFFpublished at 17:34 British Summer Time 29 September 2024

    Aston Villa 0-1 Tottenham

We're back under way for the second half with Aston Villa straight on the attack.

You can see Villa going in and sense a bit of frustration there.

Tottenham going in feeling quite relieved, they created a goal by committing players forward, Drew Spence drawing the penalty, drawing the foul, they hung on and actually they grew into the game.

  7. 'It's quite evenly matched at the minute'published at 17:27 British Summer Time 29 September 2024

    HT: Aston Villa 0-1 Tottenham

    Chloe Hudson-Jones

The way that Villa started the game, the first 15 minutes or so I don't think Tottenham could get out of their own half so they would've been happy with that.

The only thing that was missing was that final third and goalscoring opportunity and goal.

After that especially after penalty, Tottenham grew into the game so it's quite evenly matched at the minute.

  8. HALF-TIMEpublished at 17:18 British Summer Time 29 September 2024

    HT: Aston Villa 0-1 Tottenham

That's it for the first half and it's Tottenham who lead at the break thanks to a Eveliina Summanen penalty.

It's been a really entertaining game with both sides playing some tidy football.

Will Aston Villa find a way back or will Spurs make it two wins from two?

Free kick to Aston Villa in a decent position to put the ball into the danger zone as Hayler Raso bundles into Kirsty Hanson.

Nothing comes from the free kick as Tottenham manage to clear well.

    Aston Villa 0-1 Tottenham

Once again, Tottenham break with Martha Thomas but she struggles to get the ball out of her feet with her first touch. She finds Hayley Raso but the chance has gone at that point.

The away side do look a threat on the break.

  11. Postpublished at 17:11 British Summer Time 29 September 2024

    Aston Villa 0-1 Tottenham

I'd say Aston Villa have been comfortably the better side in the first 40 minutes without really creating any goalscoring chances.

It's a bit like their opening match away at Chelsea; plenty of pressure but no end product so far.

  12. 'Villa taking too many touches in wide areas'published at 17:09 British Summer Time 29 September 2024

    Aston Villa 0-1 Tottenham

    Chloe Hudson-Jones
Ex-Leicester and Aston Villa defender on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

For Villa if I was being extremely critical, for as much possession as they've had, I think they get into wide areas really well.

If anything I think they're taking too many touches in those wide areas rather than crossing the ball behind Tottenham defenders.

Aston Villa are controlling the majority of the ball but Tottenham are looking to set traps are catch them on the break. You more chances will come for Spurs while this game stays at 1-0.

Jordan Nobbs sends in a testing cross that has Becky Spencer scrambling backward. The ball drifts out of play but the Tottenham keeper takes a while to get to her feet after taking a bit of a knock.

Aston Villa's Kirsty Hanson is really threatening down the left every time she picks the ball up. This time, she cuts inside on her right foot and tries her luck but her effort is straight at Becky Spencer.

    West Ham 1-1 Liverpool

It's all over in East London.

West Ham are on the board for the season, with Riko Ueki's late strike claiming a share of the spoils.

Having led for so long and created plenty of chances in the second half, Liverpool may well feel like it is a case of two points dropped for a second week in a row.

One last attack for Liverpool who break down the right hand side.

Yana Daniels fires a cross through the six yard box but the West Ham defence watch it drift out of play beyond the far post.

    Leicester 0-1 Arsenal

Job done for Arsenal. They had to work hard for that one, but they've got their first three points of the WSL season.

Having lost their first six WSL games against Arsenal by an aggregate scoreline of 23-2, Leicester should take heart from that performance. They pushed the Gunners all the way there.

    West Ham 1-1 Liverpool

Liverpool are certainly finishing the stronger of the sides.

Wave after wave of pressure and it's taking all of West Ham's might to keep them at bay.
