What a race! Adam Peaty's attempt to add 50m breaststroke gold to his 100m title ends in agony as South Africa's Cameron van der Burgh pips England's 19-year-old in a thrilling finish.

Peaty started badly before recovering and pushed the winner all the way. Australia's Christian Sprenger takes bronze.

Scotland duo Mark Tully and Ross Murdoch are fourth and sixth respectively.

5000m winner Caleb Mwangangi Ndiku pulled a couple of funny faces and had to be directed on which way to face for the flagpoles by bronze-medallist Zane Robertson.

It is left to shot put champion Sultana Frizell to perform a flying dismount from the top set of the podium once she has been given her due.

Scotland's para-sport T11/12 100m gold medallist Libby Clegg tells BBC Sport: "It is a bit daunting when everyone wants you to win, but I didn't feel the pressure too much. The crowd and atmosphere have been brilliant and to win gold is amazing."

It is time to hand out the gongs for the men's 5,000m.

Champion Caleb Mwangangi Ndiku might have something prepared for us. The Kenyan, with his dyed-gold hair, broke out some slick dance moves after his win last night.

"Two silvers represents a great meet really. She did not quite manage to get gold medal, but Willmott looked very, very good. She was really strong towards the end. England's Aimee Willmott wins silver in the 200m butterfly final to add to her silver in the 400m individual medley.

There's a decathlete trying to clear 2.08m in the high jump, but still. Great to see Canada's Sultana Frizell following her hammer gold in Delhi four years ago with another here - it means, of course, that she remains the current champion. I SAID CURRANT CHA... oh, never mind. No sour grapes."

Sophie Taylor clinches another gold in the pool for England as the 18-year-old produces a strong finish to win the 100m breaststroke final.

Australia's Lorna Tonks is second and Jamaica's Alia Atkinson, who was leading for so long before fading badly, is forced to settle for bronze.

Jamaica's Novlene Williams-Mills and Botswana's defending champion Amantle Montsho are all but holding hands as they cross the line in glorious isolation to take up the first two qualifying spots.

Williams-Mills takes it in 50.73 seconds with Montsho just behind in 50.96 looking like she had plenty of gas in the tank.

Neither has gone as quick as Stephanie McPherson though who won the first heat in a rapid 50.69 seconds.

Jamaica's first athletics gold comes in the hefty shape of O'Dayne Richards rather than from any of the lithe sprinters.

Jamaica's Christine Day, part of her country's bronze-medal winning relay team in London 2012, is some way off her personal best from the national trials, but 51.02 is more than good enough to secure a final spot.

She strolls off, apparently having barely raised a pulse, while the Bahamas' Shaunae Miller comes home second. England's Shana Cox is well down in fifth.

England's European champion Becky Downie raises the decibels inside the 'Hydro' gymnastics venue with a strong uneven bars display.

Her score of 14.683 takes England to a halfway total of 85.390, clear of Wales in second with 81.398. Downie nods and says 'that's brilliant' to one of the England coaching stars. They'll be back for the other two routines tomorrow.
