Victory for Willstroppublished at 07:31 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

    Men's singles quarter-finals

That's quite the win for England's James Willstrop. He's gasping for air at the end but he's booked his place in the semi-finals with a 7-11 12-10 7-11 11-6 11-6.

He collapses against the wall with exhaustion. What a win.

Next up on court for England is three-time world champion Nick Matthew - he's playing Malaysia's Nafiizwan Adnan.

Q3: Northern Ireland 26-37 South Africa

Northern Ireland have been getting plenty of turnover opportunities but they're just not able to convert them.

They're really pushing South Africa hard, with captain Caroline O'Hanlon and Fi Toner trading intercepts, only to see their efforts wasted in the shooting circle.

Ultimately, it's the South Africans' experience that has paid off, with a solid defensive performance restricting Northern Ireland.

Zoe Smith’s mum has been telling me how worried she was about her daughter competing in light of her latest back injury problem but the English lifter was BRILLIANT!

Perhaps fearing further injuries there was no repeat of her backflip after gold at Glasgow 2014 and instead it was just a wave and a little skip but this silver is a phenomenal result.

No funding, working and studying full time as well as trying to train, but still a Commonwealth medallist and competing her set after bronze in 2010 and gold in 2014.

I’m just not sure if they have enough people wiping sweat from the court between games.

We go to a decider. James Willstrop - world number 14 - against the world number 20 Cameron Pilley of Australia.

As you may expect, this crowd is all for one man. Whenever Pilley wins a point there’s a bloke who shouts out how many he has to go. He makes it 1-1 in the decider: “Come on Cameron, 10 more to go.”

We're into a fifth game in this quarter-final between England's James Willstrop and Australia's Cameron Pilley.

Willstrop wins the fourth game 11-6 to level the scores. This is a nailbiter.

The good news is you can watch it here.

Maude Charron hits 117kg and is guaranteed the gold medal, with England's Zoe Smith finishing with the silver. That's a second weightlifting silver of the day for England.

It was a briliant performance from the 23-year-old Londoner who was the Commonwealth champion in the lower -58kg category in Glasgow.

And all with a back injury as well.
