Franck and Mikael coach table tennis in the state of Queensland. They are well connected but Franck tells me: “Even working here it’s been hard to get tickets. We are coming to as many days as we could get tickets for.”

As you can see by watching their rally below. They’ve got a bit of game.

Fachie into gold medal racepublished at 06:48 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

Men's blind and visually impaired sprint

Too easy. Fachie and Rotherham's Australian opponents give up with almost a full lap to go. I'd be staggered if the Scottish pair don't win gold in this men's sprint.

They're through to the gold medal race at 09:35 BST.

Men's blind and visually impaired sprint

Neil Fachie and pilot Matt Rotherham are back on track in their sprint semi-final. They won the first heat against Australia. Win this one and they're in the final.

If you missed it, they set a world record in qualifying...

    Men's singles quarter-finals

It couldn't be tighter in this men's quarter-final over at the squash.

After Australia's Cameron Pilley took the first game 11-7, England's James Willstrop has rallied to come from behind and win the second 12-10, much to his opponent's frustration.

It's anyone's guess who is going to win this decider.

    Women's -63kg final

    Nick Hope
BBC Sport on the Gold Coast

So - what can Zoe Smith achieve here?

Realistically she’s looking at silver as Canada’s 6kg lead would appear a pretty huge challenge to overcome - but in weightlifting you never know.

The English lifter is due to open the clean and jerk on 110kg but she managed 118kg in Glasgow four years ago.

Given how well she competed in the snatch stage, Zoe may decide to push it a little higher...

Northern Ireland only five downpublished at 06:43 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

HT: Northern Ireland 19-24 South Africa

South Africa are only ahead by five goals at the break. Not many would have predicted this.

And after a slight moan at the Northern Ireland shooters for only putting up 70% of their shots in the first quarter, they've upped it to 79%.

They've also come up with six turnovers in the first half to just one from South Africa - five of those from captain and flag bearer Caroline O'Hanlon.

Wales managed to stay in the game until half-time against New Zealand yesterday, but can Northern Ireland go one better?

    Men's sprint quarter-finals

This men's sprint competition really is throwing up a few surprises.

Wales' Lewis Oliva has lost the first heat of his best-of-three quarter-final to Muhammad Shah Firdaus Sahrom.

In the second quarter-final, England's Joe Truman won the first heat against Scot Jack Carlin despite Carlin being the faster of the two in qualifying.

    Weightlifting - women's 63kg

She's done it! Wales' Holly Knowles, at her first Commonwealth Games, makes 93kg in the clean and jerk on her final attempt.

She finishes with a total of 163kg and is temporarily in second place. There are plenty of lifters to come, though, including England's Zoe Smith and Northern Ireland's Emma McQuaid.

    Weightlifting - women's 63kg

Lots of these athletes at the weightlifting seem to be struggling with shoulder injuries. It's not surprising really.

The latest casualty is Winnie Okoth of Kenya, and on come the volunteers to put up a big green screen to give her some privacy. Very thoughtful, Okoth walks off though.

Meanwhile Holly Knowles is the next competitor and she successfully cleans and jerks 90kg with one lift to come. She's tall, but mighty, mighty strong is this Welsh lifter.

Some people can’t sit still, even to watch the Commonwealth Games.

A makeshift squash court has a dozen people lining up to play and the table tennis area is only really missing Forrest Gump to make it feel authentic.

Some wait on bean bags for the chance to play. What is it the BBC Sport FA Cup advert says?

    “This is winner stays on.”

    Weightlifting - women's 63kg

We're onto the clean and jerk in the women's 63kg weightlifting.

England's Zoe Smith is sitting in second place after snatching 92kg, while Northern Ireland's Emma McQuaid is in fourth.

It'll be tough to beat competition leader Maude Charron of Canada, but the home nations could be in for a medal or two here.

    Stay tuned.

Q1: Northern Ireland 7-13 South Africa

A good start for Northern Ireland in the netball after that thrashing my Australia in their opening fixture.

The world number eight side are giving everything against the fifth-ranked South Africans and they're keeping it tight at the moment.

They're sat on 70% shooting percentage at the moment though, which they need to up in the second quarter.

There'll be no Matt Glaetzer though. The Australian world champion and favourite was dumped out in the 1/8 finals.

I’ve never been so glad to see Borobi. The Games mascot is ensuring shade while others hustle for a space at the water refill.

I’m told the ozone layer is thinner over Australia for reasons which are beyond my intelligence. A quick Google confirms it. So perhaps that’s why we are baking.

Guy is being treated for dehydration, but Team England say he should be OK for Sunday's racing.

Smith competing at -63kgpublished at 06:07 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

    Women's -63kg final

    Nick Hope
BBC Sport on the Gold Coast

A few people have been asking why Zoe Smith was in the -58kg division for Glasgow 2014 and now competes at -63kg.

Well - there are a couple of reasons.

One, Zoe found it pretty tough ‘boiling down’ to compete at -58kg and as with all athletes the older you get the harder it becomes.

Two, the British team actually saw the strength of women at -63kg and decided there was very little difference with the -58kg division. As such with five kg’s of extra weight she can carry more muscle and in theory be even more competitive.
