By the way Reid claimed he was verbally abused in Thursday’s individual event for not doing his turn on the front during the bike leg., external

Glaetzer qualifies fastestpublished at 05:07 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

    Men's sprint qualifying

Australia's Matt Glaetzer, the men's sprint world champion, breaks the Commonwealth Games record again to qualify fastest for the 1/8 finals.

Scotland's Jack Carlin is second, with England's Ryan Owens fourth and Philip Hindes fifth.

We'll see the riders again at 05:23 BST with the quarter-finals set to begin at 06:13.

But sad news for Scotland's Callum Skinner, who was ill overnight and unable to compete in the qualifying this morning.

    Mixed team triathlon

This is Australia's gold to lose but Alistair Brownlee has cut Australia's lead by six seconds in the swim. He's still 33 seconds behind though. Onto the bike Brownlee senior goes. He needs to go like Sir Chris Hoy here.

  12. Brownlee facing big taskpublished at 05:04 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

    Mixed team triathlon

I fear Alistair Brownlee may have too much to do. Jess Learmonth continues to struggle at the end of her run and Brownlee starts this final leg 39 seconds behind Australia's Jacob Birtwhistle.

It will need something huge from Brownlee here for England to win gold.

    Women's 63kg final

    Nick Hope
BBC Sport on the Gold Coast

Can Zoe Smith defend her Commonwealth crown?

Four years ago she delivered one of the moments of the Games by performing an impromptu backflip after winning gold at Glasgow 2014.

It looked like a true breakthrough moment for the then 19-year-old who had been one of the faces of the Games - but the last four years have been brutal on the English lifter.

A dislocated shoulder saw her miss Rio 2016 and a funding axe followed, so to be honest, I think a medal of any colour would be a massive success story for her today!

Ashleigh Gentle is looking incredibly strong, she'll want to make up for missing out on the medals in the individual event.

We can't forget the huge effort Learmonth put in in that race. That pressure has probably left her pretty fatigued, I would say, so it's not a surprise to see her dropping off on this run.

She looks like she's really struggling now.

    Mixed team triathlon

Now Australia's Ashleigh Gentle is pulling clear of Learmonth. The Englishwoman stumbles coming into transition between bike and run and may have caused herself some damage there.

Learmonth is struggling. Australia's Gentle is cruising in her running stride while Learmonth looks like she is running through treacle.

Alistair Brownlee has a massive job on to win gold in the final leg.

    Men's sprint qualifying

Meanwhile in the velodrome, the men are battling it out to decide the seedings for the knockout stages of the sprint later this morning.

Ryan Owens of England has set a Commonwealth Games record, but there are still plenty of riders to come. I expect we'll see a few more records go this morning.
