Wales' double silver medallist James Ball is magnanimous in defeat after missing out on gold to Scotland's Neil Fachie for a second time.

Ball won silver in both the men's blind and visually impaired time trial and sprint events in his first Commonwealth Games.

He tells me he knew what Fachie was capable of and his two silvers will be 'something to treasure'.

Let's update you as to how it's going in the badminton.

A brilliant three-game win for England's Chloe Birch over Canada's Michelle Li has put England well in the driving seat to reach the semi-finals. Team-mate Rajiv Ouseph is currently on court in the men's singles rubber.

In the quarter-final between Scotland and Malaysia, the Scots will have to pull of the comeback of all comebacks if they are to progress. Kieran Merrilees lost in straight sets to Lee Chong Wei to give defending champions Malaysia a 2-0 advantage.

That is exactly how you want a final to finish. All the athletes had to perform in that last rotation.

Alice is very young senior so for her to go out there and perform under pressure - she’s done a clean competition and finishing in third is great.

With so many of the seniors out with injury, it gives the younger girls an opportunity to show what they can do.

Next up on the track, it's the points race final. At 25km, it's a long one.

There's plenty of home nations interest in this one, most notably Scotland's Katie Archibald and Wales' Elinor Barker.

Archibald won bronze in the event in Glasgow four years ago with Barker winning silver, though the Welsh rider was crowned world champion last year.

That’s a great win for Paige Murney. I’m told by GB Boxing that as this is her first major event, it’s very much an experience mission rather than a medal hunt. To score a unanimous win is a great day. She showed proper work rate throughout and will come on in leaps and bounds for the outing.

What's in store on day three in the poolpublished at 10:24 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

    Swimming

    Nick Hope
BBC Sport on the Gold Coast

Day one belonged to England, day two the Aussies were simply breathtaking, but who will dominate day three in the pool?

Adam Peaty should win a 100m breaststroke gold for England and the Campbell sisters should win a gold and silver between them in the 50m freestyle.

But I can’t wait to see the women’s 100m backstroke. Yes, there’s home nation interest in Welsh swimmer Georgia Davies and Kathleen Dawson of Scotland, but there could be huge drama in the middle lanes.

Emily Seebohm is the home favourite and world champion over 200m but Kyle Massie of Canada set a new world record en route to 100m gold at the World Championships last year and there was hardly anything between them in qualification.

It's a guaranteed medal for Scotland's Jack Carlin - he's into the sprint final after winning the second round of his semi-final with Australia's Jacob Schmid.

It was a tight one though, Carlin only just gets over the line ahead of his opponent.

He'll face New Zealand's Sam Webster in the race for gold.

Adam Thoseby leads the way with 20 points overall, with Kofi Josephs and Jamell Anderson contributing 14 each for England.

Nice boost for the points difference after their opening 78-85 loss to Scotland.

In reply, India's only resistance came with 22 points from Aravind Annadurai.

Next up on court, Scotland face Cameroon.

This is a see-sawing humdinger with more intrigue than a Hercule Poirot investigation.

Some sudden shonky shooting from Scotland's normally reliable Bethan Goodwin, a little terrier defence from Wales' Nia Jones proving over-zealous for the umpires' liking and finally red goal attack Bethan Dyke sent skidding into the hoardings and out of the game.

Plenty more twists left in the tale and anyone's game.
