    Women's 69kg

This could quite easily be one round apiece. Good shots going in from both girls but I think Ryan was just a bit sharper in that last round.

Gilmour goes for bronzepublished at 09:57 British Summer Time 14 April 2018

Badminton: Women's singles bronze medal match

It's a repeat of the Glasgow 2014 final but today's clash between Scotland's Kirsty Gilmour and Michelle Li of Canada won't be for the gold medal - instead it's for bronze.

Li, who won in Glasgow four years ago, has a 100% win record against Gilmour in their four previous meetings across the net, but the Scot - a two-time European silver medallist - is made of tough stuff and will be determined to make it a case of fifth time lucky.

    Watch it live here.

A much more high-octane fight this time around. Sandy Ryan lands a few of her own in htat second round but Rosie Eccles still looks in control. Gold for Wales coming up?

'Blistering stuff'published at 09:56 British Summer Time 14 April 2018

    Women's 69kg

Eccles gets so committed with her right hand that occasionally she leans over and that's when that right uppercut should be coming through from Ryan.

    Blistering stuff this fight.

'Eccles flew out the blocks'published at 09:54 British Summer Time 14 April 2018

    Women's 69kg

    Richie Woodhall
Former world boxing champion on the Gold Coast

It was a good start from Eccles who flew out the blocks but as the round went on Ryan started to find her range.

Eccles seems to be boxing well mid-to-long range.

Nice shots landed by Rosie Eccles in the opening round. My handy animal weight converter shows that this weight category is half as heavy as a panda, or 2.5 Dalmatians, whichever you prefer. I wouldn't want to take either on in the ring.

No media for Michaela Walsh just yet. She is absolutely devastated. Tears and shock.

There’s a sense it was “robbery” from some of the Northern Ireland team.

And just like that, we move on to England’s Sandy Ryan against Wales’ Rosie Eccles. Boxing at the Games doesn’t wait for upset, it just moves on. Brutal.

Former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson once said: “I look at boxing as 90% psychological… the physical side has very little to do with it, if anything”. If those words are to be believed, then Welsh boxer Rosie Eccles has a huge advantage when she steps into the ring.

The 21-year-old is a full-time Masters student in Sport Psychology at Cardiff Metropolitan University where she is researching the interpersonal effects of emotional expressions. She is also ranked ninth in the world in the light-welterweight division. Eccles also has a part-time job as a bicycle courier for a well-known food delivery service and lists lifeguard, swimming instructor and special police constable among her former jobs

This next final is an all home-nations affair at welterweight as Rosie Eccles of Wales takes on Sandy Ryan of England. Eccles defeated home favourite Kaye Scott in the semi-final and admitted then that her long-held dream final would be this one.

Michaela Walsh is inconsolable. She was sure she'd won that. Gutted.

No judge gave it more than one point to either fighter.

Marcus Ellis and Chris Langridge have progressed to the final in the men's doubles competition.

The English duo overcame top-seed pairing Goh V Shem and Tan Wee Kiong from Malaysia in the semi-final.

Former Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Peter Blackburn said: "Even after their first game of this semi when they conceded at 21-15, you think here we go again.

"But they came back in emphatic fashion.
