    Women's 3m Springboard final

Canada’s Jennifer Abel has a smile that stretches from ear to ear right now after finally landing the title that has eluded her for eight years.

The 26-year-old won 1m and synchronised 3m titles at Delhi 2010 and the 1m gold again at Glasgow 2014, but had finished with silver in the individual 3m event at both Games.

“It’s the one that’s been missing from my collection and I’m so pleased to win this because it was such a battle out there and no-one was going to give this to me easily,” she tells me.

“It’s also to great get the gold for Canada as we’re been winning silvers here and this is a real boost heading into the next two years and the next Olympics.”

England actually led 8-7 with just less than seven minutes of the first quarter remaining.

But it has been autobahn levels of one-way traffic since then though.

An outrageous three-pointer in the final seconds from Kelsey Griffin pushes the Opals way out in front.

Has it already gone for England? It is a long, long way back.

Following his gold medal bout in the men's 69kg, England's Pat McCormack said: "I'm over the moon. I have had a few bad decisions along the way and I thought I was robbed of gold at the World Championships but it's all coming together now.

"I can't wait for the Worlds and I'm going to win the gold there as well. I have boxed all the top kids and they've all turned professional now, so there's room for me to take top spot."

Asked about twin brother Luke's bronze-winning performance in the men's 64kg, McCormack said: "It's nice to be taking two medals home but it's a shame it's not two golds. He always gets the hardest draw but he's done well as well.

    "I'll be popping bottles tonight."
