  1. wicket

WICKET Thain b Balderson 54published at 17:38 British Summer Time 20 April

    Essex 355-7 v Lancashire 146

Essex debutant Noah Thain picks up two to take the score past 350 and a third batting point.

He then plays a lovely cover drive to add four to the total.

But his first Championship innings ends next ball as George Balderson beats him with low that keeps low.

A worrying sight for future batters in this game!

  2. A 20th century for Bedinghampublished at 17:37 British Summer Time 20 April

Durham lead Worcs by 290 at 230-2

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

David Bedingham has been going after the Worcestershire bowlers in the sunshine of Kidderminster this afternoon.

He reached his 20th FC century in 79 balls. It included five sixes. Two of them in consecutive overs from Joe Leach and Josh Baker disappeared out of the ground.

There were also 11 fours from the South Africa Test player who now has 11 centuries for his county.

He and Scott Borthwick have put on 193 for the third wicket so far and are within range of the club's best third-wicket stand against The Pears, which they set in Chester-le-Street last season when scoring 196.

Borthwick has 75 and there are 20 overs left today.

  3. 50 runs

50 for Dom Sibleypublished at 17:34 British Summer Time 20 April

    Kent 244 v Surrey 108-0

There's a confident appeal from Arafat Bhuiyan but a little inside edge may have saved Dom Sibley.

The right-hander then pushes away for a single and finally reaches his 50 off 86 balls.

There are still 23 overs to be bowled at the Spitfire Ground.

  4. wicket

SOMERSET ALL OUT FOR 454published at 17:32 British Summer Time 20 April

    Bashir c Hameed b Harrison 0

Can Shoaib Bashir guide Craig Overton to a century?

    No!

The new England spinner performs a horrific heave off Calvin Harrison and the ball spoons up to mid-off.

Craig-O is none too pleased as he punches his bat, ending five short of his ton.

But an excellent score for Somerset with a halfway lead of 261.

  5. wicket

WICKET Pretorius b Montgomery 77published at 17:31 British Summer Time 20 April

    Somerset 453-9 v Notts 193

The part-time slow bowling of Matt Montgomery breaks the partnership!

A hint of turn beats the swing of Migael Pretorius' bat and removes the bails.

The end of an entertaining knock from the burly South African with 77 from 70 balls, and a stand of 139 with Craig Overton.

  6. Postpublished at 17:31 British Summer Time 20 April

    Kent 244 v Surrey 106-0

Dom Sibley is down the pitch to Matty Parkinson and just clears Daniel Bell-Drummond at short mid-on as the ball flies to the boundary.

There's a no-ball from the spinner but Sibley can't pick up the extra run he heeds for his 50 in that over.

  7. wicket

WICKET Alsop c T Price b Goodman 84published at 17:29 British Summer Time 20 April

    Sussex 201-3 v Glos 417

  8. 50 runs

50 for Fletcha Middletonpublished at 17:25 British Summer Time 20 April

    Hampshire 99-1 v Warwickshire 455

Fletcha Middleton drives Danny Briggs down the ground for the single he needs to reach a half-century.

It's his first of 2024 after five last year.

Off 129 balls, he has done what openers have to do which is set a platform for the middle order.

  9. 100 for David Bedinghampublished at 17:24 British Summer Time 20 April

    Worcs 184 v Durham 244 & 223-2

Having reached 50 off 55 balls, it takes David Bedingham just 24 more to convert it into his 20th first-class century.

He does it in style with boundaries either side of the wicket off Jason Holder and when the West Indian drops short to end the over, he puts that away too to advance to 105 not out.

  10. Six!published at 17:24 British Summer Time 20 April

    Somerset 449-8 v Notts 193

Not sure too many Notts bowlers are queuing up for the ball against these two.

That is a mighty blow from Migael Pretorius as he lofts leg-spinner Calvin Harrison for a big six.

Two balls later and a genuinbe slog gets Pretorius four more.

He has 71 and Craig Overton is on 92.

  11. wicket

WICKET Cox c Brown b Thomson 69published at 17:18 British Summer Time 20 April

    Derbys v Leics 533-7

Ben Cox tries to swing Alex Thomson over mid-wicket but top edges a catch to Pat Brown.

His departure brings loan signing Ben Green to the middle and after opening his account with one, he ends the over by successfully doing what Cox tried to do - clearing the rope for a maximum.

  12. 50 runs

for Rory Burnspublished at 17:14 British Summer Time 20 April

    Kent 244 v Surrey 96-0

Spin now at Canterbury and Dom Sibley - who has been dropped twice in this innings - greets Matty Parkinson by driving him straight for four.

He rotates the strike, allowing Rory Burns to pick up the single that he needs to post a 67-ball 50.

  13. 'Root knew what was going to happen'published at 17:14 British Summer Time 20 April

    Middx 246 v Yorks 159 & 85-5

    Guy Swindells
    BBC Radio London

That was a huge wicket and that's probably the worst ball that Toby Roland-Jones has bowled but it was a different delivery, so give him marks for that.

He's been banging away and banging away on off stump put down the short ball down leg side, Root got excited and it hit his glove and just lobbed up in the air and Josh de Caires took the simplest catch he will ever take.

You could see Root knew what was going to happen as soon as he played the shot and was already walking off when he saw the ball just loll up.

  14. Postpublished at 17:13 British Summer Time 20 April

    Hampshire 89-1 v Warwickshire 455

A bit of a hurry up from this Hampshire duo.

Fletcha Middleton is on 41, Nick Gubbins just two behind him.

  15. Postpublished at 17:12 British Summer Time 20 April

    Worcs 184 v Durham 244 & 201-2

David Bedingham has the bit between his teeth now.

Two successive deliveries from Josh Baker disappear back down the ground for six and a single to end the over takes the Durham total to exactly 200.

They lead by 260, and it's looking like Worcestershire are going to face a tough run-chase in this one.

  16. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 17:10 British Summer Time 20 April

    Kent 244 v Surrey 89-0

Dom Sibley pushes forward an edges a ball from Jas Singh and wicketkeeper Harry Finch spills the chance diving to his right.

It wasn't easy, but you can't imagine Surrey's Ben Foakes dropping that one.

  17. 'Essex still in sight albeit it is a long way back from here'published at 17:09 British Summer Time 20 April

    Essex 329-6 v Lancashire 146

    Glenn Speller
    BBC Essex sport

Michael Pepper made 83 from the 65 balls he faced in the two innings against Kent last week and he looked to be at it again at Chelmsford, reaching 30 from 31 deliveries which included two sixes.

But Lancashire got him with a good ball from Williams taken by Hurst to just about keep Essex in sight, albeit it is a long way back from here.

  18. 50 runs

50 for Migael Pretoriuspublished at 17:07 British Summer Time 20 April

    Somerset 415-8 v Notts 193

This is a great time to bat and Migael Pretorius is taking advantage.

A single off Calvin Harrison sees him raising his bat for reaching 50 off only 52 balls.

The partnership is worth 101 between him and Craig Overton.

  19. wicket

WICKET Root c de Caires b Roland-Jones 32published at 17:04 British Summer Time 20 April

    Middx 246 v Yorks 159 & 83-5

Joe Root batting against MiddlesexImage source, Rex Features

That's the one Middlesex wanted - and Yorkshire are still four runs in arrears as Joe Root departs.

It was a patient 69-ball innings by the England Test star, containing only two boundaries, but he tries to pull a ball from Toby Roland-Jones and gloves a catch to Josh de Caires at slip.

There are 31 overs left in the day, potentially. Can Yorkshire hang on?

  20. 'Bedingham is flying'published at 17:04 British Summer Time 20 April

    Melinda Farrell
Sports broadcaster/journalist on BBC Hereford & Worcester

David Bedingham is flying at the moment.

    He's been outstanding.
