50 standpublished at 17:00 British Summer Time 20 April

    Hampshire 70-1 v Warwickshire 455

It is probably not one for the highlights reel but Fletcha Middleton and Nick Gubbins have put on 54 for this second-wicket partnership.

They have been batting together for nearly 30 overs now and Warwickshire have gone through seven bowlers.

That suggests what type of game and pitch it is at the Utilita Bowl.

  3. 100 for Ricardo Vasconcelospublished at 16:58 British Summer Time 20 April

    Northants 185-1 v Glamorgan 271

Richard Vasconcelos scored 106 against Glamorgan in his final Championship innings of last season - and now he's reached three figures against the same opponents in his first innings of this one.

The left-hander square cuts Brad Wheal for four to move to 99 and then clips the next delivery through the leg-side to got to 100 from 153 balls faced. He has 18 fours in total so far.

    Essex 323-6 v Lancashire 146

Will Williams has plugged away and he picks up a second wicket, taking the outside edge of Michael Pepper's bat.

But the wicketkeeper has moved things along with 30 off his 31 balls.

  5. Postpublished at 16:54 British Summer Time 20 April

    Kent 244 v Surrey 69-0

Wrong line to Dom Sibley, who clips Jas Singh away for an easy boundary and is 24 not out.

Time for Joey Evison to turn his arm over for the home side, but he is short and wide and Rory Burns cracks it away for four.

    Essex 320-5 v Lancashire 146

A top edge from Michael Pepper from Tom Bailey brings him six runs. And then four off the next ball as Bailey over-pitches.

Pepper has 29 off 28 balls and that is the 50 stand between him and captain Tom Westley.

WICKET Trevaskis c Came b Reece 49published at 16:51 British Summer Time 20 April

    Derbys v Leics 485-6

Liam Trevaskis misses out on a 50 for Leicestershire as he tries to pull a ball from Luis Reece but gets too far underneath it and picks out Harry Came. He put on 67 with Ben Cox, who is 46 not out.

  8. 50 runs

50 for David Bedinghampublished at 16:46 British Summer Time 20 April

    Worcs 184 v Durham 244 & 154-2

    David BedinghamImage source, Rex Features

David Bedingham is a quality batter and seems to have grown in stature since playing Test cricket for South Africa.

He reaches a 55-ball half-century with a straight six off Joe Leach and adds a second maximum to end the over.

The Durham lead is now 220.

  9. Postpublished at 16:46 British Summer Time 20 April

    Somerset 384-8 v Notts 193

Migael Pretorius had two false starts with the bat on his debut last week at The Oval.

This is more like as this shot sounds like a shotgun off the bat of the South African as he cracks Lyndon James off the back foot.

And again, another powerful offside shot off the back foot as he advances to 28.

  10. Postpublished at 16:46 British Summer Time 20 April

    Kent 244 v Surrey 52-0

By and large, it's fairly soporific at Canterbury - but Rory Burns enlivened proceedings by pulling George Garrett for six to bring up a 50 partnership with Dom Sibley.

This is a pretty inexperienced Kent seam attack - no Wes Agar in the team for this one - and they could do with a moment of magic.

  11. 'Root has looked in excellent form'published at 16:42 British Summer Time 20 April

    Middx 246 v Yorks 159 & 71-4

    Guy Swindells
    BBC Radio London

Joe Root has looked in excellent form, he was beaten by one absolute beauty from Toby Roland-Jones but apart from that he's looked largely untroubled. But so much now depends upon his shoulders.

  12. new ball

New ballpublished at 16:40 British Summer Time 20 April

    Essex 307-5 v Lancashire

The 80 overs are up and there is no hesitation about taking the new ball for Lancashire.

    Tom Bailey has the honour.

  13. 50 runs

for Luke Procterpublished at 16:39 British Summer Time 20 April

    Northants 160-1 v Glamorgan 271

A third 50 in successive games for Luke Procter, who reaches this one from 120 balls with a single off Brad Wheal.

Glamorgan are in urgent need of a wicket with Procter's partnership with Ricardo Vasconcelos now worth 140.

  14. Borthwick & Bedingham add 100 runspublished at 16:39 British Summer Time 20 April

Durham 141-2 lead Worcs by 197

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Scott Borthwick, who has moved from number three to opener this season, has brought up his first 50 of the campaign.

He and David Bedingham have combined well and have so far put on 100 runs in 119 balls. With a first innings lead of 60, Durham are now 201 ahead. Borthwick has 59 and Bedingham 43.

They have recovered nicely after losing Alex Lees at the end of the second over for four. He edged a ball from Nathan Smith to Jason Holder at second slip. He was furious with the shot and wafted his bat through the air in anger as he walked off.

Colin Ackermann was on 18 when he edged Joe Leach to the keeper with the lead on 97.

  15. Ooops...published at 16:38 British Summer Time 20 April

    Essex 306-5 v Lancashire 146

A moment to sum up Lancashire's two days and position in this match.

The final ball of Jack Blatherwick's over is a poor legside full toss which Tom Westley flicks down to deep square leg.

Luke Wells is the fielder down there and the ball dribbles through his legs and over the rope for four!

  16. Division Two updatepublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 20 April

Ben Cox hammers Alex Thomson over long-on for six and Leicestershire are 562-5 at Derby. Cox is 30 not out and Liam Trevaskis has 42.

Only one run from the latest Dom Goodman at Hove, but Sussex are 150-2 in reply to Gloucestershire's 417 all out, with Tom Alsop on 63.

Mason Crane is into the attack for Glamorgan at Northampton, but concedes back-to-back fours to Ricardo Vasconcelos, who is now 83 not out in their 158-1.

Somerset have come out to have some fun in this final session.

Craig Overton and Migael Pretorius have picked up 18 runs from the first two overs with three fours.

Their stand is worth 51 at just over a run-a-ball.

    Overton is now on 73.

  18. Postpublished at 16:31 British Summer Time 20 April

    Middx 246 v Yorks 159 & 63-4

George Hill survives Ryan Higgins' hat-trick ball and later in the over drives smoothly through mid-off to open his account.

Joe Root is still on 23 at the other end and all eyes are on him now.

  19. 300 runs

300 up for Essexpublished at 16:30 British Summer Time 20 April

    Essex 300-5 v Lancashire 146

A second batting point for Essex comes up thanks to a Jack Blatherwick no-ball.

They lead by 154 and have an iron grip on proceedings.

  20. 'Yorkshire's hopes are resting on Root now'published at 16:26 British Summer Time 20 April

    Middx 246 v Yorks 159 & 59-4

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

Yorkshire are in huge trouble, their hopes in this match are resting quite largely now on the man who is still out there wearing 66 on his back - Joe Root.
