  1. 50 runs

for Scott Borthwickpublished at 16:23 British Summer Time 20 April

    Worcs 184 v Durham 244 & 125-2

A thick edge and a bit of hesitation before running, but Scott Borthwick takes two off Nathan Smith and reaches his first 50 of the season from 89 balls.

A good innings for his side and his partnership with David Bedingham is now worth 89.

  2. Postpublished at 16:23 British Summer Time 20 April

    Hants 49-1 v Warwicks 455

Warwickshire call up Ed Barnard for his first bowl of the innings.

It's a tidy one too. Just the one run conceded.

  3. wicket

WICKET Brook lbw Higgins 0published at 16:20 British Summer Time 20 April

    Middx 246 v Yorks 159 & 59-4

A golden duck for England's golden boy.

Harry Brook plays forward defensively but Ryan Higgins has him leg before and having removed Finlay Bean immediately before tea, he will be on a hat-trick at the start of his next over.

  4. Postpublished at 16:17 British Summer Time 20 April

    Worcs 184 v Durham 244 & 113-2

Crumpets and muffins duly digested, they are cracking on at Kidderminster.

David Bedingham square cuts Adam Finch for four and a cover drive by Scott Borthwick later in the over also finds the boundary.

    The lead is 171.

  5. Tea at Canterburypublished at 16:13 British Summer Time 20 April

    Kent 244 v Surrey 33-0

    Alex Hoad
    BBC Sport at Canterbury

Surrey's reply has begun in slightly ominous fashion from a Kent perspective as Rory Burns and Dom Sibley have punished anything even slightly loose from Kent's opening bowlers, finding the rope with regularity.

Arafat Bhuiyan has beaten the edge a couple of times but with a meaty 40-over session on the slate after tea due to the rain interruptions, Kent will hope to make a breakthrough while the ball is still relatively new.

Should they fail, you'd expect Surrey will fancy their chances of wiping out the majority of the 211-run deficit they currently face before stumps on day two.

  6. Tea at Tauntonpublished at 16:12 British Summer Time 20 April

    Somerset 347-8 v Notts 193

Craig Overton hooks Lyndon James for six in the final over before tea. A touch of the Ian Bothams about that shot!

Overton walks off 57 not out and he and Migael Pretorius are having a lot of fun out there.

Somerset lead by 154 and they will fancy a crack at the Notts batters in the last session you would imagine.

  7. 'Credit to Lancashire'published at 16:10 British Summer Time 20 April

    Tea: Essex 291-5 v Lancashire 146

    Glenn Speller
    BBC Essex sport

Credit to Lancashire in that session. Yes the Essex lead is building but they stuck to their guns and bowled with some good discipline to pick-up four wickets.

Cox and Critchley could not repeat their heroics of last week against Kent but Tom Westley has batted nicely for his 55 while Michael Pepper’s brutal dealing of Luke Wells in the final over before the break might give us a taste of what is to come.

Essex will want a lead of more than 200 and it is Lancashire’s job to restrict them.

  8. 'An attritional session'published at 16:09 British Summer Time 20 April

    Tea: Sussex 138-2 v Glos 417

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

An attritional session with Sussex battling away against tight, accurate Gloucestershire bowling

Tom Clark and Tom Alsop added 108 for the second wicket without ever looking entirely comfortable, and shortly after completing his half century Clark edged behind off the bowling of Dom Goodman.

Alsop has batted patiently and increasingly confidently, and reached the break having compiled his first half century of the season

  9. Tea at Derbypublished at 16:09 British Summer Time 20 April

    Derbys v Leics 452-5

Just a single for Ben Cox in the final over before tea at Derby with Leicestershire in a very strong position following an innings of 214 by opener Marcus Harris.

He was eventually bowled by Pat Brown, having earlier shared a stand of 153 with Perter Handscomb, who made 68.

They will look to continue grinding down the Derbyshire attack in the final session, with Liam Trevaskis 40 not out and Cox on 22.

  10. Tea at Northamptonpublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 20 April

    Northants 133-1 v Glamorgan 271

A very satisfactory afternoon for Northants, with Ricardo Vasconcelos and Luke Procter sharing an unbroken stand of 113 following the dismissal of Emilio Gay for 15.

They each pick up a single off Zain ul Hassan in the final over before tea, with Vasconcelos reaching 69 not out and Procter 40.

Mason Crane hit a career-best 61 earlier in the day before Glamorgan were finally bowled out.

  11. Tea at Chelmsfordpublished at 16:05 British Summer Time 20 April

    Essex 291-5 v Lancashire 146

Michael Pepper is not playing for tea as he hits a massive straight six off Luke Wells.

And the last ball of the session is slapped straight down the ground by Pepper to add four to the total.

An expensive over from Wells, conceding 17, giving up some of the hard work that his team had done in taking four Essex wickets since lunch.

  12. 'Not a wicket Yorkshire wanted to lose'published at 16:04 British Summer Time 20 April

    Middx 246 v Yorks 159 & 59-3

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

That was a wicket that Yorkshire did not want to lose.

They are behind in the match and it feels like the next session is vital by far.

  13. 50 runs

50 for Craig Overtonpublished at 16:02 British Summer Time 20 April

    Somerset 338-8 v Notts 193

A popular lad in these parts, Craig Overton hits Lyndon James for four and his half-century is warmly greeted by the Taunton crowd.

  14. wicket

WICKET Bean lbw Higgins 29published at 16:01 British Summer Time 20 April

    Middx 246 v Yorks 159 & 59-3

Error of judgment by Finlay Bean who plays right across the line to Ryan Higgins and is leg-before.

He put on 46 with Joe Root, who is 23 not out, but Yorkshire are still 28 behind as tea is taken following his dismissal.

Root has faced 37 balls so far and only hit two fours and he should be joined by England team-mate Harry Brook after the interval.

  15. 50 runs

50 for Tom Westleypublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 20 April

    Essex 281-5 v Lancashire 146

Luke Wells' part-time leg-spin is introduced for the first time.

And his first ball is a rank full toss that Tom Westley dispatches for four.

That's a first fifty of the season for the Essex captain, coming off 84 balls.

  16. Postpublished at 16:00 British Summer Time 20 April

    Derbys v Leics 451-5

Ben Cox takes an easy single off Alex Thomson and Leicestershire earn their fifth batting point with an over to spare.

Presumably they are operating a 'only bat once if at all possible' strategy in this game. Cox is 21 not out and Liam Trevaskis has 40.

  17. 'Middlesex have kept runs down'published at 15:56 British Summer Time 20 April

    Middx 246 v Yorks 159 & 59-2

    Guy Swindells
    BBC Radio London

Middlesex really have kept the runs down where possible.

  18. 50 runs

for Tom Alsoppublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 20 April

    Sussex 129-2 v Glos 417

Tom Alsop turns a ball from Tom Price square on the leg side and a single takes him to 50 from 100 deliveries faced.

The first order of business for the home side is to eradicate the possibility of following on. They are 288 behind.

  19. Tea at Kidderminsterpublished at 15:53 British Summer Time 20 April

    Worcs 184 v Durham 244 & 93-2

A couple of freebies from left-arm spinner Josh Baker are swept away for fours by David Bedingham in the final over before tea.

Bedingham is 30 not out and now has a 50 partnership with Scott Borthwick (35*), the pair coming together when Colin Ackermann was caught behind off Joe Leach with the score on 37.

    Durham are 153 ahead.

  20. Tea at the Utilita Bowlpublished at 15:53 British Summer Time 20 April

    Hampshire 45-1 v Warwickshire 455

Time for a break at the Utilita Bowl.

The end of what we can politely call an attritional session of cricket. Warwickshire added 13 before Hampshire have reached 45 off 24 overs for the loss of Ali Orr.

A bit of a contrast with events in the IPL!
