  1. Ind 89-1 (Dhawan 41, Kohli 31)published at 04:58 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2015

Before this game, Virat Kohli averaged 51.5 in ODI cricket. The mark of greatness? He looks in good touch today on the same ground he scored two Test centuries against Australia late last year. Shikhar Dhawan is also looking in fine fettle as he swivels in his crease and directs a Wahab Riaz short ball to the fine leg fence.

  3. Ind 82-1 (run-rate: 4.82)published at 04:54 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2015

Shahid Afridi, who is playing his 392nd ODI, is struggling to get too much purchase from the surface but is compensating for it with a bit more pace. He's comfortably the fastest spinner I've ever seen. India continue to live off ones and twos. It's like the calm before the storm.

    Tim Nielsen
Former Australia coach on BBC Test Match Special

"With all the big build up and the fervent atmosphere in the crowd, the players out there in the middle have actually been quite controlled. It's almost been a safe start from India."

  5. Ind 75-1 (Dhawan 34, Kohli 24)published at 04:51 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2015

Such are the oppressive late-afternoon temperatures, Pakistan's players used the drinks break for a quick massage. Big fast bowler Irfan looked particularly pleased to crack a few bones. Wahab Riaz gets us back under way and he's steaming in now - offering Shikhar Dhawan the chance to listen to some chin music. Four from the over.

"Coming from Stoke, the only time I've experienced 39-degree temperatures was when the thermostat broke.

"Here in Adelaide, going outside is fearful, moving around an effort. Batting? 'It's all about the mind,' said Geoffrey Boycott.

"Sweating is normal. You tell yourself you're not tired.'"

"Virat Kohli has scored 266 in his nine innings against Pakistan.

"He has not been impressive against Pakistan apart from Asia Cup 2012 where he scored 183."

  8. Ind 71-1 (Afridi 3-0-16-0)published at 04:43 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2015

Right on cue, India put their foot to the pedal. They are starting to push hard when running between the wickets, and Virat Kohli then sweeps Shahid Afridi to the boundary. Nine from the over, and time for drinks.

"But Sachin's fans have not forgotten to remember him in Adelaide."

  11. South Africa v Zimbabwepublished at 04:41 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2015

Crash! Bang! Wallop! Batman subtitles appearing on screen would not look out of place as South Africa's David Miller goes all superhuman. He is finding boundaries for fun, including three sixes and three fours in an eye-watering 48th over, as people inside and outside the Hamilton ground duck for cover.

JP Duminy, Miller's very own Robin, is a more than capable sidekick, bringing up his century with an innovative reverse sweep in the final over.

Miller finishes with 138. Duminy finishes with 115. The pair of them racked up a memorable 256, helping South Africa to a total of 339-4 after Zimbabwe initially threatened.

Oh, and Miller and Duminy also set the highest fifth-wicket partnership in one-day internationals....

More left-arm seam from Pakistan, who chuck the ball to Wahab Riaz. With war paint plastered across his face, he bounds to the wicket and is clipped both sides of the wickets for ones and twos. You sense it won't be long before we see a few boundaries.

"It's good that this game is happening here in Adelaide. You get the noise, the colour, the atmosphere that you get all around the world. There's fewer green spaces around the ground now than there used to be, but it's still a fantastic setting."

  14. Ind 56-1 (run-rate: 4.31)published at 04:34 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2015

Whippy, fizzing leg-breaks from Shahid Afridi and he's milked into the gaps by the batsmen. Four singles from the over.

Santosh Dsouza in Mangalore, India: For the sixth consecutive India - Pak World Cup tie, I missed the opening ball. The last five occasions ended up in India's win. Hoping for the same today!

  16. Ind 52-1 (Sohail 6-0-22-1)published at 04:31 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2015

Can the crowd keep up this racket for 100 overs? They are bringing incredible passion to the occasion. With the field beginning to spread, India are pushing singles into the gaps. Virat Kohli, who has got off to a quiet start, then ups the rate with a swivelled pull shot for four off Sohail Khan.

"Shane Warne has seen a lot: Ashes wins, the World Cup, 708 Test wickets, poker, Liz Hurley.

"So, when he's excited, you know we're watching something extraordinary.

"As the crowd erupted soon after the anthems, Warne was on the outfield, taking a video on his mobile phone."

  19. Kohli dropped on 3published at 04:27 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2015

Can anyone remember a Pakistan team without Shahid Afridi? How is he still only 34? He made his ODI debut in 1996. The Spice Girls were just breaking onto the scene back then, my teenage memories recall. The leg-spinner is into the attack for Pakistan and almost gets rid of Virat Kohli, who hammers the ball to deep mid-wicket but Yasir Shah can't hold on to a spectacular catch.

  20. England suffer nine-wicket defeatpublished at 04:26 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2015

All over in Tauranga. And all over for England. New Zealand complete a nine-wicket win with eight balls left. Amy Satterthwaite (76*) thumps one through mid-wicket for a four, with Rachel Priest unbeaten on 96 at the other end.
