"There was just a bit of movement and the bat was searching for the ball, coming down from second slip. A palpable gasp from the crowd. Australia back into this game - very much so. Wow."

This is getting interesting. To the first ball after the interval, Grant Elliott is bowled, by a beauty from Mitchell Starc, who wipes out the middle stump. That's two wickets in two balls, albeit with a 40-minute interval in between.

"The Aussies won't have given this up yet; they've just taken two wickets for one run. It's heavily stacked in New Zealand's favour, but it's not over. Yet. There's a bit of tension left."

During the interval, New Zealand legend Martin Crowe was been inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame.

Crowe played 77 Tests and 143 one-day internationals and hit a match-winning century to help his country beat Australia at Eden Park on their way to a semi-final finish in the 1992 World Cup.

The 52-year-old, who is suffering from cancer, said: "For me, it will be the only World Cup game I get to, and it's almost like a bookend to my cricketing life, to be here and watch these boys."

  9. England need to be more flexible - Vaughanpublished at 05:01 Greenwich Mean Time 28 February 2015

Former captain Michael Vaughan believes England are too predictable to be successful at the World Cup.

"After the Scotland game captain Eoin Morgan said they are flexible. No, they're not. They are set in stone the way they are going to play," Vaughan told BBC Radio 5 live.

"England are very, very predictable and if they're not careful this World Cup will be like most pundits have said with a predictable outcome.

"They will get to the quarter-finals - just - and then play a powerhouse like India at the MCG and it will be same old, same old, same as the last World Cup and same as the one before."

  10. England to lose Ballance?published at 04:55 Greenwich Mean Time 28 February 2015

So this is a Pool A match, the same group that England are in, and Eoin Morgan's side, buoyed by their 119-run victory over Scotland earlier in the week, are preparing to face Sri Lanka later today (22:00 GMT).

England have remained unchanged for their first three matches of the tournament, but Morgan says it may be time to rotate his squad with Gary Ballance's position under threat after only scoring 30 runs at number three.

"We'll consider those changes," Morgan told BBC Sport. "Alex (Hales) and Ravi (Bopara) are two guys who train really hard. They are disappointed not to be playing but are eager to play."

Brendon McCullum's 21-ball fifty was the joint second fastest against Australia in ODIs. The top three are:

    • 20 balls: Darren Sammy (West Indies), Gros Islet, 2012

    • 21 balls: Lance Cairns (New Zealand), Melbourne, 1983

    • 21 balls: Brendon McCullum (New Zealand), Auckland, 2015

So the players walk off and now it is the interval. Neither side will probably be too happy at the break now. New Zealand want to get the match wrapped up quickly, and Australia have just taken two wickets.

It has been very entertaining, so do not go anywhere. There may well be more twists to come.

"Starc is slippy - quicker than people think. He caught Taylor out with no footwork. If Australia get another one straight after the interval, suddenly it's 80-odd for there's a little wobble on."

  17. WICKETpublished at 04:30 Greenwich Mean Time 28 February 2015

There may just be a twist in this match after all. His side may have won all three of their previous matches, but it has been a pretty miserable tournament for Ross Taylor personally so far.

It does not get any better for him at Eden Park. He is bowled by Mitchell Starc and it is two wickets in three balls for the Australians. Ross Taylor's scores in the World Cup so far: 14, nine, five not out, one.

Well that's the end of that. McCullum's 24-ball, hugely entertaining innings is over. Pat Cummins has his first wicket of the match, as McCullum finds Mitchell Starc at mid-off.

It was a good recovery for Cummins, who had bowled five wides off his second delivery and then ended up in a crumpled heap on the floor when he had fallen over during his bowling action earlier in the over.

Imagine what he could do if he hadn't just been hit on the arm. Right, let's run you through it. First up Brendon McCullum swivels and slaps the ball through backward square leg for four. A six deep over long-off and a four over the man at short fine leg soon follow. This is like watching him against England again. Incredible cricket from McCullum.

His 50 comes up in 21 balls.
