This is where we bow out. For now. It may not have been the most dramatic end to this round of World Cup action, but maybe we shouldn't be too greedy after that superb game between New Zealand and Australia. Let's just be grateful at the quality of the tournament so far. Long may it continue. Which it hopefully will. Later today.

"The UAE just need a couple of players to dig deep for them - these are the moments when you see what players are made of, just after they've had a defeat like this."

  4. Captain's viewpublished at 11:11 Greenwich Mean Time 28 February 2015

India captain MS Dhoni: "The bowlers have really stepped up and this has led to improvements in other parts of the side. When we were losing games outside the sub-continent it was a concern and we couldn't get wickets in the middle overs. Now we are getting wickets with the new ball and the spinners are able to put more pressure on in the middle overs. As a unit they are doing well. They have shown they can do it game after game."

"It was very brave for the UAE to bat first. I'm always a fan of getting out in the field in that situation as if you can nip a couple of wickets out, you can get that momentum. But it was always going to be a tough ask for them. India looked all at sea in the tri-series but they've worked well as a unit here. The pace and bounce they extracted really rushed the UAE batsmen, and with the spin of Ashwin their attack is looking really good at the moment."

  6. Captain's viewpublished at 11:10 Greenwich Mean Time 28 February 2015

UAE captain Mohammad Tauqir: "It was not a par score on this wicket. We were outplayed by the Indian bowling. We should have scored 200 plus. He [Ravichandran Ashwin] bowled brilliantly and we couldn't cope. He was getting good bounce and turn. Our top order need to be more responsible. We need to stick to basics and play the whole 50 overs."

So, defending champions India remain top of Pool B with a 100% win record and six points on the board. UAE remain without a win from their three games. They competed in the other two games (against Zimbabwe and Ireland) but they were never in this one. One small plus is that UAE are not bottom of the pool. That spot is occupied by Pakistan, who have a worse net run-rate from their two defeats.

"I was very impressed with India's professionalism. They didn't take their foot off the pedal, they had a hard time in Australia before this tournament but their fielding has improved immensely, they're switched on and that will put pressure on the other teams."

  11. Man of the matchpublished at 11:00 Greenwich Mean Time 28 February 2015

Man of the match Ravichandran Ashwin: "I usually bowl at phases of the game when you are trying to buy wickets or cut the runs down but today went well. I am an attacking bowler but when it comes to this format I am unselfish. It doesn't matter about the numbers as long as I contribute. We had a bit of down time after the Test series but now we are on a roll."

"The only thing that would have disappointed India would have been not batting first and getting some long innings for their batsmen. But the way India annihilated South Africa the other night at the MCG, I think it's going to be between them, Australia and New Zealand. I can't see West Indies or Sri Lanka getting beyond the quarter-finals."

"India were just too good for the UAE - the UAE have got over 200 a couple of times but this just wasn't their night. They were outclassed by a formidable Indian line-up, and it was only a formality for them to win. But it's great to see the Associates in the World Cup and hopefully there will be more to come in the rest of the tournament."

So I was a bit keen with my eight-ball finish prediction. Kohli nicks a quick single with a steer down to short third man, which has Rohit desperately scampering to get to the striker's end before the throw. After returning to the strike, Kohli cuts another four through backward point off Karate.
