Australia are on course to register their lowest World Cup score. They are just about hanging in there. Brad Haddin has a run-a-ball 24, with Patrick Cummins on only three off 15 balls. But his job is just to stay in there and let Haddin build a competitive target. He has a lot to do.

Dave Mangham:, external I go outside to hang the washing out & three wickets go down!! How rude.....

A lesson learned there, Dave. Why are you hanging out the washing at 2.30am anyway?

"That is an outstanding performance from Trent Boult - swinging the ball at good pace, causing all the Australian batsmen grief. His best bowling figures in a one-day international - and what a way to do it."

And that it is from Trent Boult. Superb figures from his 10 overs as he records 5-27. A maiden to end Boult's spell. His second spell: five wickets, three runs. Fair to say a decent day at the office.

    Australia remain on 124-9.

Haddin chips just over mid on for four as the excellent Vettori nearly picks up his third wicket of the match. The spinner then gets hit for six to ruin his figures a bit, but he ends with 2-41 from his 10 overs.

For those just joining us, Australia were 48-1 off only five overs. In an incredible 20 overs, maybe the most incredible 20 overs of the tournament so far, they are now on 124-9. Yes, you read that correctly.

    BBC Test Match Special statistician

"Australia lost eight wickets for 26 runs as they slipped from 80-1 to 106-9, their worst eight-wicket collapse in ODIs.

"Their previous worst was 8-27, when they went from 95-1 to 122-9 against Pakistan in Dubai in 2009 and 13-1 to 40-9 against Sri Lanka at Brisbane in 2013."

"The worst crime in one-day cricket is not to bat your 50 overs. Australia have got to do some serious batting to make this game go beyond the dinner interval.

"If you're an Australian, this is a mess. If you're a New Zealander, you're having the best day of your life."

So, Australia are struggling at the hands of New Zealand. Well, it is a payback for some of the Australian media, who took great delight in mocking England after their opening two defeats.

This was the front page of Melbourne-based newspaper The Age after England picked up a convincing win against Scotland earlier this week.

And another. This match is going to be all over by 4am (GMT) if this carries on. Mitchell Starc is the guilty man this time. He tries to whip it away, misjudges it completely and Boult strikes again for his fifth wicket. Australia are 106-9. I will repeat that. 106. For nine.

"You're seeing it but not believing it. Australia are in total disarray."

  19. WICKETpublished at 02:40 Greenwich Mean Time 28 February 2015

This is unbelievable. And what a catch from Kane Williamson. He is at short cover, where he claimed the wicket of Michael Clarke only 10 minutes ago. It is a poor shot from Mitchell Johnson, but excellent from Williamson who dives to his right and gets two hands to the shot. Australia in turmoil.
