"The review system has worked for both sides, with Ireland's successful review of De Kock earlier. It was such a big bottom edge though, I'm surprised there wasn't a bigger mark on Snicko."

  2. Not outpublished at 06:47 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2015

The umpire is wrong, David Miller is right. Snicko says he hit it. Paul Stirling thought he had his first wicket of the day. He is wrong.

  3. Umpire reviewpublished at 06:46 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2015

David Miller is given out lbw. He says he hits it. It is time for the television cameras to tell us.

  4. SA 347-4 (Miller 21, Rossouw 23)published at 06:45 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2015

Two more boundaries for South Africa. They are happening faster than I can type them. A slower ball from Kevin O'Brien is punished, as is a full toss.

  5. SA 336-4 (Miller 20, Rossouw 14)published at 06:43 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2015

South Africa got 400 in their last match, a 257-run win over the West Indies. They are on course to do the same again here.

Another 13 off the over, including a four from Rossouw into fine leg, and two successive threes, one from each batsman.

"Two or three twos, a single, a free-hit that goes for six and suddenly an over has gone for 14. Ireland are really up against it."

  8. SA 323-4 (Miller 16, Rossouw 5)published at 06:37 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2015

John Mooney would have loved his first spell of bowling. And hated the second. A front-foot no ball sees the extra ball slapped away for six by David Miller. From 1-9 off five overs to 1-52 off seven for the Irishman. Another 14 to the total from the over.

Frank Meehan:, external Cricket is supposed to be a contest of bat versus ball. It's now just a batting slogfest. Kids will not want to be bowlers..

I don't know. A few youngsters may just be pretending to be Andrew McBrine if he carries this on.

"McBrine will take this to this grave. AB de Villiers, one of the great batsmen of his time... Ireland are probably still going to be looking down the barrel of 350. It's hard to say Ireland are back in the game at 301-4 but it's certainly a bonus after what we've seen."

  11. WICKETpublished at 06:29 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2015

No matter what else Andrew McBrine does in his cricketing career, he will never forget the time he got the wickets of Hashim Amla and AB de Villiers, ranked second and first in the one-day international batting rankings, inside three balls.

De Villiers tries a reverse sweep, gets a top edge to it to send it high and when it comes down Niall O'Brien is there to take the catch at point.

"It's a measure in all of this fire how well Andrew McBrine has bowled. It has been the slower bowlers, those who have taken pace off the ball, who have had more success today."

  13. WICKETpublished at 06:22 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2015

So there is to be no double century for Hashim Amla. The returning Andrew McBrine is back into the attack and he sees Amla sky it high to long-off, where Ed Joyce, who dropped Amla when he was on 10, holds on to this one.

  14. SA 299-2 (Amla 159, De Villiers 22)published at 06:22 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2015

Two fours for Amla and a six for De Villiers.

  15. 150 for Amlapublished at 06:22 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2015

The boundaries are flowing. The milestones are coming regularly. The next one to mention is Amla's 150, with his last 50 coming off only 24 deliveries. His two off the first ball of the over takes him there. Little in ways of a celebration though. Certainly no shadow boxing at the stumps. He still has work to do.

Chris Gayle scored 215 against Zimbabwe last week, the first double century in a World Cup. Can Amla beat that?

  16. SA 280-2published at 06:15 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2015

AB de Villiers is next in. George Dockrell wishes he wasn't. A four and a six off the first two balls of the over, before another four. Fourteen off his first five balls for De Villiers, who recorded the fastest 150 in one-day cricket in his last match. Wonder what he will do when he finds some form.

  17. SA 262-2published at 06:15 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2015

Great celebration from Kevin O'Brien. Remember former Everton and Australia attacking midfielder Tim Cahill's goalscoring celebration when he would run to a corner flag and start shadow boxing with it?

Well, O'Brien has taken it to a new level, by throwing some punches at the stumps. Great scenes. Just not a great score to do it at.

Finally the partnership is ended. It was worth 247 and may have won South Africa the match. Incredible effort. It is an excellent yorker from Kevin O'Brien, Du Plessis misses it and his run-a-ball innings is over.

  19. SA 255-1published at 06:07 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2015

John Mooney's first five overs went for nine. Now he is back in action. And, just like an aging rocker back for one final tour, he should never have come back.

It is a horror show from Mooney as 27 runs come from it, to take a wrecking ball to his bowling figures. Among the carnage is Amla pulling one over square leg for six, before another maximum, this time over extra cover. Other highlights / lowlights include a four off a short and wide delivery and a waist-high full toss that is a no ball. And slapped for four.

Not an over to show the grandchildren in future.

George Brann:, external SA proving they aren't all about AB. Amla doesn't miss a trick & they are always backed up by their bowlers.
