As Derek Stirling says, Pakistan take advantage of the good fortune and Haris Sohail gets a touch of luck for himself with a flashy drive outside off that races through the slip cordon for four.
Derek Stirling
Ex-New Zealand seamer on BBC Test Match Special
"That's two dropped now, and it could cost them. A wide delivery, Shehzad flashed at it, and the man at backward point put it down. And the next ball is a flashy drive through second slip - you feel for the poor old bowler."
Another one down in the field for UAE and it's Ahmed Shehzad again who survives. A loose drive squirts out to point who doesn't cling on to it and quite frankly should have.
Derek Stirling
Ex-New Zealand seamer on BBC Test Match Special
"A steady start - the bowling's been steady, they've not offered much width so Naveed and Guruge will be happy. But Pakistan look like a side lacking a bit of confidence - they've not shown much positive intent and at the moment, it's even stevens."

Haris Sohail gets his first boundary of the day with a neat flick away to the leg side, showing some strength with his bottom hand. First signs then that Pakistan want to get on with things here, but are certainly lacking in confidence from some brittle batting displays so far in this World Cup.
Derek Stirling
Ex-New Zealand seamer on BBC Test Match Special
"You'd expect those chances to be taken at this level. Khurram Khan's not young - you'd think a younger, more agile man would have gobbled that."
Half a chance there for UAE to make a second breakthrough as Shehzad tries to loft an off-drive for four. The fielder at mid-off dives one-handed to his left, gets some fingers to the ball, but can't cling on.
Stephan Shemilt
BBC Sport in Napier
"Earlier on, Pakistan warmed up by kicking a football around. Insert comment about 'Mohammad Irfan having a good touch for a big man' here."
Shehzad cuts away behind square, but not in full swashbuckling fashion just yet as it's carved in a controlled fashion to third man for just a single. More steady stuff from Mohammad Naveed as UAE continue to make an impressive start with the ball.

"Pakistan have got to cash in here. It's a good-looking wicket, they've got to get up that table and get that net run-rate up."

Wicket-to-wicket is certainly the approach these UAE opening bowlers are looking for. A very sedate start so far from Pakistan and it's just the slight sloppiness in the field that's letting UAE down as a misfield leads to an unexpected single. A Pakistan supporter dressed in the green of The Incredible Hulk suddenly appears on the television screen as these two batsman look to keep their moods in control.
Stuart Duff
Ex-Central Districts all-rounder on BBC Test Match Special
"New Zealand have done well here chasing at times. There's pace and bounce and carry, but the square boundaries are quite short, and they've brought them in at the ends so the straight boundaries aren't too long either. Daniel Vettori has done well here bowling wicket-to-wicket."
If you're wondering why you might have heard Haris Sohail's name before then it's probably because you remember he was recently spooked in the night while on Pakistan's pre-World Cup tour of New Zealand. Back in Napier meanwhile and it's another tidy over from Naveed who's getting some early sideways movement.

"I still can't work out why [wicketkeeper] Sarfraz Ahmed isn't in the Pakistan team. I've always thought he's a good, attacking batsman."

That dismissal of Jamshed came right off the cue end of his bat. Haris Sohail is the new man in for Pakistan at number three and once again in this World Cup he finds himself called in to action early.
Stuart Duff
Ex-Central Districts all-rounder on BBC Test Match Special
"That shows the form they're in. That was a long-hop which should have been hit into the stands, but he's hit it to mid-on. They've got to do better to set the UAE a good target."
First breakthrough of the day for UAE and Jamshed is the man to go. A poorly timed attempt at a pull shot from a short ball outside off stump and it finds the waiting hands of the fielder at mid-on.
DrHolmes: Sarfraz Ahmed batted well in the UAE and could be a better opener than Jamshed. Also, he's a "specialist" wicketkeeper.
Seraj: Pakistan should be aiming for a big total, 280+.
Mohammad Naveed's been ever-present for UAE in this World Cup so far with four wickets to his name. He works through a steady second over with little on offer for the batsman despite a neatly taken single off his legs from Jamshed.
