"I'm a fairweather tourist. I live in Durban, where the weather in winter is still about 16-17 degrees Celsius, and I can still wear shorts and a T-shirt. It was really cold when I played for Durham - I remember chasing a ball for 50 metres with my hands in my pockets. But I played in a game at Derby once where play was stopped because the sun came over the sightscreen."

That's the 100 up for South Africa, in the 20th over. David Miller, one of five South Africa centurions in this tournament, adds three to his total with an effort that is clipped off the pads through mid-wicket.

  5. SA 99-3published at 02:33 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2015

Rather bizarrely, David Miller has to vault over an advertising hoarding to get on to the field. Well, that wicket of Rossouw has given UAE a spring in their step. They elected to bowl and will be pleased with their efforts so far.

This is only their second World Cup appearance, and they have only won one of nine matches, beating Netherlands by seven wickets in 1996. They won't be thinking of a victory yet, but it has not gone all South Africa's way so far.

"He's bowled really nicely, he's beaten the inside edge and then here, he's given it a little more air, Rossouw's not got to the pitch of the ball and it's a comfortable caught and bowled. All of a sudden, South Africa are on the back foot."

Sorry Rilee, I have completely cursed you there. Two balls after "being on the verge of a half-century" he is gone.

It is a deserved wicket for Mohammad Tauqir, who has bowled superbly without success. Rossouw gets it completely wrong and can only send his shot straight back into the bowler's hands.

  8. SA 95-2 (Rossouw 43, De Villiers 2)published at 02:25 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2015

Rilee Rossouw is closing in on his third half-century in four innings. A lovely half-volley, past deep cover for four, followed by another single, a square drive, takes him on to 43.

  9. SA 88-2published at 02:21 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2015

So it was slow progress under Quinton de Kock. But things may get a bit faster now. AB de Villiers is the next man in. Remember his 150 off 64 balls? This could get messy for UAE.

"De Kock's body language there was that he wasn't going to be around for very much longer. The UAE were absolutely convinced. It's always surprising when the only person who isn't convinced is the umpire."

  11. WICKETpublished at 02:14 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2015

Snicko comes to UAE's rescue and De Kock's miserable tournament continues. He is out, caught behind after a pretty painful 26 off 45 balls.

Twenty-seven runs from his first five matches, another 26 here today. Will that be enough for him to keep his place in the South Africa team?

Worrying moment for Quinton de Kock. Has he hit it? The umpire says no, the UAE players appeal enthusiastically.

"That's disappointing from the bowler, Tauqir, when it went through his legs. Most bowlers become Jonty Rhodes off their own bowling."

  14. SA 82-1published at 02:13 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2015

How has that missed? For the third time Mohammad Tauqir should be celebrating. Yet he remains wicketless. Quinton de Kock is completely deceived, but the ball nips between bat, pad and wicket and goes away for four byes.

Not the best moment for wicketkeeper Saqlain Haider, playing his first match of the competition.

But Tauqir cannot moan for long, as he also misfields later on in the same over.

  16. Ouch!published at 02:08 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2015

Only nine runs have come from three overs and Rilee Rossouw tries to speed things up with a wild swipe. It makes it to the boundary, but it is a worrying moment for Kamran Shahzad. He dives early, catches his knee in the turf and rolls over, looking in a lot of pain. That four is the only scoring shot in the 14th over.

"I'd be intrigued to know how deep these drop-in pitches actually go, to get that bounce and swing. With the 22 yards plus a few at either end, you're looking at about a 30-yard section of turf."

  18. SA 70-1published at 02:04 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2015

South Africa are still going at more than five runs an over, but they are a bit lucky to not be two wickets down.

It is a lovely first over from spinner Mohammad Tauqir. Twice he nearly secures the wicket of Rossouw, narrowly missing an edge on the first occasion, before the batsman gets an inside edge but is lucky to see it miss the wicket. Only one run from the over.

  19. SA 68-1published at 02:01 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2015

Three singles in the 12th over. Pretty much an England-esque over there. Not much to get excited about.
