"Not a good start at all for Zimbabwe. Good pace shown by India, as they've shown throughout the tournament. The change of batting order is interesting."

So the "KP will-he-won't-he return?" saga appears to have another chapter to it. Gets me thinking, if you wanted to see a player from any side and any era return to a side, who would it be and why? Get your suggestions in to us in the usual way. Back in Auckland meantime, more neat stuff from India as Brendan Taylor gets going with a couple of twos.

"I wouldn't be surprised if Brendan Taylor has done a disc in his back going for that shot. It was so wide, and he gave it such a heave."

  4. Zim 13-2 (run rate 1.86)published at 01:30 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2015

Brendan Taylor looks like a man keen to get going. Shami offers up a short and wide ball outside off and it's a real kitchen sink effort from the right-hander. A huge swing and a miss. Another maiden over.

  5. Zim 13-2 (Yadav 3-1-5-1)published at 01:28 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2015

So, that man in the news again it seems. No doubt we will hear more reaction in the hours to come. Back at Eden Park meanwhile and more steady stuff from Umesh Yadav who reels off a maiden over with little on offer for a very much restrained Zimbabwe.

  7. Pietersen closer to county deal?published at 01:27 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2015

Away from this game and back in the UK, the Daily Telegraph is reporting, external that up to six counties have expressed an interest in signing former England batsman Kevin Pietersen, with Surrey - for whom he played Twenty20 cricket last summer - among the favourites.

The report states that Pietersen would have to pull out of his Indian Premier League contract with Sunrisers Hyderabad - worth around £300,000 - and make himself available for all formats of county cricket to have any chance of being considered by England.

A tough start for Zimbabwe after losing the toss and exactly the first five overs MS Dhoni would've been after. Both his openers have been on song so far. Here comes captain Brendan Taylor for his last international innings.

"A shortish ball, it went quite wide but Dhawan was almost able to run towards the catch and took it comfortably with both hands. Zimbabwe in early trouble."

Two in two overs for India. More impressive early seam bowling here and this time it's Mohammed Shami in the wickets. A rising good length delivery finds Chibhabha's outside edge as he tries to drive on the up and it's a well-taken catch at slip from Shikhar Dhawan.

Santosh DSouza in Mangalore, India: Facing Zimbabwe always makes me nervous. They have given India a scare many a times - in WC 1983, WC 1999 etc. The most memorable being an ODI in Faridabad, 2002 when a certain number 10 batsman Douglas Marillier scored 56 off 24 balls to beat India. Fingers crossed for this one.

  12. Zim 13-1 (Chibhabha 7, Mire 2)published at 01:19 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2015

Solomon Mire is the new man in at number three for Zimbabwe. He clips a couple off his legs first ball to get himself going.

"Good start from Yadav, this over was much more on target and the length induced him to drive, but there was a hint of movement away. It's been surprising the way India's fast bowlers have got wickets - they're having to pitch the ball up more here than they have in Australia."

  14. WICKETpublished at 01:15 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2015

Lovely bit of bowling. Classical seam bowler's dismissal. A nicely pitched-up ball outside off from Yadav entices Hamilton Masakadza in to a drive and it finds a healthy outside edge for a regulation catch for MS Dhoni behind the stumps.

"A curate's egg of an over - some deliveries have tested the batsman , while others have been wide of the mark - Dhoni has a word between overs as Shami needs to bowl straighter there."

  16. Zim 11-0 (Chibhabha 7, Masakadza 2)published at 01:14 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2015

Nice bit of angle in to the right-handers from Shami. He puts in an enthusiastic leg before shout against Chibhabha which was doing too much and just clipping leg stump on "umpire's call". The Zimbabwe opener gets a fortunate early boundary with an under-edge that runs fine past MS Dhoni for four.

"It could have been so different for Zimbabwe. They lost to Ireland by five runs, having bowled eight wides and three no-balls. They lost to Pakistan by 20 runs after bowling 17 wides. The one team which got away from them was West Indies."

  18. Zim 6-0 (Chibhabha 3, Masakadza 1)published at 01:10 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2015

Umesh Yadav shares the new ball with Mohammed Shami. Rohit Sharma pulls off an early bit of acrobatics with a diving stop at point. Chibhabha clips one off his legs to long leg for a nice couple of runs.

"With Masakadza opening today, and Solomon Mire having moved up from eight to three in the last game, it's as though Zimbabwe don't really know their best batting order. The Taylor-Williams-Ervine axis in the middle order has provided the majority of their runs."

  20. Zim 3-0 (India won toss)published at 01:05 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2015

Plenty of seam and swing first up from Shami. A little too much in fact from one delivery which is signalled a wide well outside off. A couple of extras and a single to get Zimbabwe off and running.
