  2. UAE 108-6 (Aziz 37, Javed 34)published at 00:21 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2015

Samuels strays a fraction to leg and Aziz tickles it round the corner for three. Holder appeals for lbw - that's very hopeful - there was plenty of bat on that I reckon. Signs of desperation from the Windies as they seek to break this partnership? Time for former skipper Darren Sammy to enter the fray.

  3. UAE 103-6published at 00:18 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2015

Taylor is pulled up and called wide for a bouncer that sails over the head of Aziz. The next ball is nudged for a single in an otherwise quiet over.

Aashish: Windies have lost the plot (46-6 to 100-6) - UAE are far too comfortable, cruising in fact - before you know it's 150+.

  5. UAE 101-6 (RR 3.60)published at 00:12 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2015

Spin, at last. Marlon Samuels gives his arm a leisurely twirl and quickly stems the flow of runs with a maiden over.

"UAE have showed really good fighting qualities because they never looked like making 100 at the start. These two have played well."

  7. UAE 101-6 (Javed 33, Aziz 32)published at 00:08 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2015

These two are feeding off each other nicely. Javed matches his partner's score of 32 with a slap through the covers for four that brings up the 100. About an hour ago, they looked like getting nowhere near that mark.

Thanks Jonathan. The TMS commentators are discussing whether greatness is contagious. (Apparently it's one of the World Cup slogans). Well, let's see if just by sitting next to JJ I can inherit some of his keyboard magic.

Anyway, I arrive with news of a boundary, confidently swatted to square leg by Aziz. Make that two. Roach drops short again and Aziz gives it the treatment. That's the fifty partnership.

"The West Indies are in a bit of a lull now. Their body language is not as sprightly as it was. I think spin would be a good option for them now."

As my colleague Sam Sheringham rightly points out, this UAE pair have struck up a 'proper' partnership here. Amjad Javed is digging in, repelling everything that Andre Russell has to throw at him. The West Indies, who must win remember to have any chance of reaching the last eight, need to end their resistance. Quick.

And on that note it is time to leave you in Sam's capable hands for the next X amount of overs...

The West Indies are beginning to become frustrated with this pair. Kemar Roach, with his chunky bling swaying for side to side around his neck, mutters something to himself as he goes back to his mark. And I'm not surprised. Roach sees Nasir Aziz lash him for seven runs from two balls midway through the over.

Alex from Maidenhead: This match has shown why sides like the UAE and Afghanistan shouldn't be allowed to play in World Cups. There will be at least 2 hours to kill before Pakistan's match I reckon.

As Ebony Rainford-Brent points out, these two batsmen are doing their damndest to add some respectability to the scoreline. Nasir Aziz cannot make any inroads against Russell, until a wide and hooked single on the final ball. Aziz and Amjad Javed's partnership is 33 runs now.

"This is much better from UAE. It is not easy. They are living dangerously and having a good old swipe but they are building a partnership, which is critical for them."

Couple of chances for the West Indies. Kemar Roach's first delivery is edged towards the slips by Nasir Aziz, but the lanky figure of Jason Holder cannot reach the ball as it whizzes over his head and runs to the boundary.

Then, Aziz wafts at a Roach outswinger, prompting the bowler to stick his arms in the warm Napier air and asking the question of the umpire. Ranmore Martinesz is non-plussed, however, shaking his head at the West Indies bowler.

Andre Russell has loosened up nicely. The West Indies man ramps up the miles per hour, pumping down six quick balls to ruffle the batsmen. Amjad Javed is not able to leave his crease as Russell adds one to the maiden column in his bowling figures.

Jason Holder wipes his furrowed brow with his sleeve and sticks his cap back on his head at the end of his final over. The West Indies skipper looks disappointed not to add to his tally. Chin up, Jason! Those figures of 10-1-27-4 look pretty tasty to me.

Aziz adds four runs on to the UAE tally with a fortunate slice which loops over the wicketkeepers's head and goes down to the rope.

Time for another bowling change - Andre Russell, the man with the razor-sharp mohican, is incoming. No great pace from Russell, who pings down a yorker on his last chance. That's meat and drink for Amjad Javed, who gobbles up that chance with a beautifully-timed connection which scuttles off to the boundary.

West Indies skipper Jason Holder is desperate to nick another wicket before his wonderful spell is brought to a close. He goes on the attack, firing at the stumps, but sees both batsmen knock him for quick singles. Then Aziz hooks one leg-side, dashing down the track and back for two more runs.
