From Stephen Goodman: Would you have skipped a home Test series against England to play in the IPL?

"If we have a governing body that is going to be useful, they can help to eradicate these guys leaving the longer format to go and play in the IPL or the Big Bash. It's all about having everyone on an equal basis. I think there can be an avenue, but it's seriously wrong if someone ignores playing for their country and decides to leapfrog straight to the bigger picture."

How often do you wake up in the early hours, drenched in sweat, reliving the nightmare of being dismissed lbw by Jonathan Agnew in a Test? (Aggers charitably adds the decision might have been reversed with DRS)

"I am, still. But you win some, you lose some. It was all up to the umpires then."

"Officially, Moeen Ali is still waiting to hear from England over whether he will fly out to join them. He bowled nine overs in the first innings as Worcestershire lost to Yorkshire but didn't get a chance in the second innings as they were defending such a low total."

"There have been four sessions in the game, and I make it 2-2. The West Indies have completely dominated the morning sessions. The afternoon sessions are where the pitch looks like it's at its best. The platform was there for England to get 500, but they haven't played to the standards they set themselves yesterday after lunch."

England post a 7-2 off-side field for Anderson's second over as he bowls to the left-handed Smith - three orthodox slips, a fifth slip and a gully are waiting for a catch. Smith nudges one into the leg side, where Trott is having to patrol vast swathes of Antiguan countryside almost single-handedly, and they run two.

Smith is playing the 38th Test of a 12-year career, but has only reached three figures once, against England in Jamaica back in 2004. West Indies are on the scoreboard as Smith drills Broad back past the bowler, it looks like four all the way until Jonathan Trott stops it on the boundary with a tumbling stop, and Smith - who had originally envisaged an easy four - has to scamper to make three. There will be time for one more over.

"It was a real good length, sharp swing back in to Devon Smith, his right foot just gets crossed over a little bit. But it was a good decision from Billy Bowden, and a good decision from England not to waste one of their reviews."

Stuart Broad - who's also celebrating a landmark, as this is his 75th Test - takes the second over, with a four-man slip cordon and a helmeted short leg in for the left-handed Devon Smith of Grenada. Broad raps him on the pad, big appeal from the bowler, a brief chat with Captain Cook... but no review used. And just as well - the ball-tracker shows it pitching a fraction outside leg.

Anderson from the Sir Curtly Ambrose End - having set up the right-handed Brathwaite with four outswingers, he nearly does for the young Bajan with a beaut of an inswinger which the batsman has to jam his bat down on. A maiden for Jimmy.

Big applause for James Anderson, who gets the chance to lead England onto the field for his 100th Test. He's sporting a new England cap, with "100" inscribed underneath the three lions.

    Who's ahead in this game?

"England, definitely. If you win the toss and bowl, you've got to bowl the opposition out for 270-300 max. England have four quicks - West Indies only had three - and there's a bit of turn which will help Tredwell. And with nearly 400 on the board, you've got to fancy your chances."
