Adam Wheeler: If England win, obvious choice for MoM is Root. Jimmy has a strong case as his bowling spell and fielding changed the match.

MJ: Enough of this debate - Lyth for Trott as it should have been from the first - Plunkett for Stokes and Rashid for Jordan - Cook, Lyth, Ballance, Bell, Root, Buttler, Moeen, Rashid, Plunkett, Broad, Anderson - the best team available today.

Time for me to leave the controls. When play resumes, Stephan Shemilt will be back in charge...

Ballance drives Bishoo through cover for three. England are looking untroubled on this docile wicket, the spinners causing no great alarms.

Ian B: Wow Test cricket, sit down in pub after day at races and all but dead rubber converted to facile win, astonishing.

  9. Eng 58-1 (Cook 34, Ballance 22)published at 19:51 British Summer Time 25 April 2015

This is comfortable for England at the moment. Cook and Ballance rotate for a couple of singles off Samuels.

Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special

"West Indies need a miracle to beat England when you look at the team sheets. They can't beat England. I'd have gone into the dressing room before the first Test and said 'Come on we can beat this lot'.

"You don't want false confidence but you have to be realistic. If I was playing that's how I would be thinking. I'm not trying to be nasty but you need that confidence."

  11. Eng 56-1 (target 143)published at 19:48 British Summer Time 25 April 2015

Ballance whacks Bishoo through midwicket for four. On the boundary edge, Windies bowling coach Curtly Ambrose is going absolutely postal.

"That was a surprise. The batsman have been in no trouble at all and the ball didn't do anything. It was so slow, but it was just a mistake from Ballance."

  13. Dropped catchpublished at 19:46 British Summer Time 25 April 2015

Ooh, West Indies can't afford that. Gary Ballance gets a thick edge trying to late-cut Samuels and Devon Smith shells it at slip! He juggled it three or four times like a man desperately groping for a bar of soap. With less than 100 runs to play with, that's unforgivable.

  14. Eng 46-1 (Bishoo 2-0-6-0)published at 19:42 British Summer Time 25 April 2015

This hasn't been a good match to be under the helmet at short leg - with Moeen Ali, Marlon Samuels and Devendra Bishoo all susceptible to dropping the ball a bit short. Jermaine Blackwood is the latest man to narrowly avoid decapitation when Bishoo sends down a half-tracker and Ballance gets his chunky forearms through a lusty pull shot.

Tim in London: I simply don't understand the Trott selection. He's 34 now, and surely past his best. Why would you pick him as an opener instead of trying to find a player who can be there for at least 4-5 years?

  16. Eng 41-1 (target 143)published at 19:37 British Summer Time 25 April 2015

Just when this run chase was in danger of becoming about as interesting as weatherproofing the garden fence, Ballance takes a liking to Samuels - who bowled him in the first innings - and strikes him meatily to the boundary at cow corner for a one-bounce four. That's more like it.

  17. Email tms@bbc.co.ukpublished at 19:35 British Summer Time 25 April 2015

Jon Clay: When did England last win a Test match by batting rather than bowling to victory? It seems like a while since we have chased down a target but hopefully this will be a successful evening!

  18. Eng 36-1 (Cook 26, Ballance 9)published at 19:35 British Summer Time 25 April 2015

Now, time for leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo, who will have a huge role to play for the West Indies. He begins well, landing the ball on a good length and getting some grip off the track. England advancing in singles at the moment - Ballance knocks one to square leg.

    Geoffrey Boycott
Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special

"I don't think there's enough aggression in the bowling to worry England. 180-220 can be tough to get, but this is a small target and the quality of the bowling isn't there."

  20. Eng 35-1published at 19:31 British Summer Time 25 April 2015

Marlon Samuels, who completed Jason Holder's last over, rattled through a rapid over of off-spin, at the cost of one run.
