"Stokes has his arms full of tattoos - he is the modern man. He is very similar to a Flintoff or a Botham in the way he plays the game."
Stokes continues. Of course he does. Watling gloves the first ball, from back of a length, down leg side for four. They are the only runs of the over. I feel slightly sorry for some parents right now. How are they going to convince their cricket-loving kids that a full sleeve of tattoos is not a good idea?
foocoh: Who said Ashes whitewash? England playing like this are more than a match for the Aussies.
Alex Younger: Fantastic stuff from Stokes. England showing a thoroughly ruthless and cut-throat style of cricket.

"Ian Botham and Andrew Flintoff had that ability to light up a crowd. English cricket have got themselves a new hero in Ben Stokes. There is something about that all-round ability."
Thank god for Ben Stokes. I was beginning to think I'd cursed England by coming on to describe the action. It was a genuine pleasure to be able to write about that little period. Moeen brings some spin to the occasion. One thing is for certain, Corey Anderson won't be blocking it out for a session and a half. He looks to be positive but can't beat the field.

"This last four a bit days has been as good cricket as I've seen for many, many years."
David McNaught: Are you watching Michael Clarke! (Sorry, getting carried away)
Angela: Stunning from Stokes! Had me dancing round the living room with that McCullum wicket!
BBC Radio Test Match Special
Test Match Special: I think it's fair to say @philtufnell is enjoying this spell of bowling...
Stokes is the symbol of English optimism at the moment. He stands at the end of his run-up as the Lord's crowd cheer with expectation. His run-up is accompanied by thunderous clapping. Corey Anderson clearly hasn't read the script as he punches between mid-wicket and mid-on for four, then hammers down the ground for another boundary before clattering one to cow for six. Anderson has the build of a middle-weight boxer and if he is going down, he is going down swinging. It all makes for superb cricket.
Matt Greenslade: Suddenly English cricket is fun again.
Rick in Islington: Reminds me of Flintoff 2005. What an over from Stokes.
Denise Evans: Yes Ben Stokes! Beautiful bowling follows beautiful batting. That's your man of the Match right there, everyone.
Ben Stone: What a game Ben Stokes is having. All rounder who can bowl quickly? We've seen that somewhere before in an Ashes summer...
England have the bit between their teeth now. Wood charges in at the best of times but he is hurtling in now like he could bust down a brick wall. His first ball shoots up from nowhere and wraps Watling on the gloves. The batsman does really well not to send that hurtling towards gully. The Durham man then finds a bit of outswing to beat the outside edge. With every over this is looking like a renewed England, a confident England, a winning England.
Chris Lyon: Think England have potentially found a new Flintoff
TM: It's just gets better and better!! Give me a test match over the IPL any day. Amazing stuff!
Tim C: Ben Stokes is on fire!!! Not helping my revision mind you...

"After playing a potentially match-winning innings, that could be a potentially match-winning over."
Corey Anderson is in and shoulders arms to Stokes' hat-trick ball, which flies past off. The whole of HQ rises to applaud England's man of the moment, their new hero. Ben Stokes, I salute you.
Phil Tufnell
Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special
"It's exciting! What a great delivery the inswinger, angling back in, hurried him, on to the back leg and what a breakthrough by Ben Stokes, what a couple of deliveries they are."
Stephan Shemilt
BBC Sport at Lord's
"His batting has led us compare to Andrew Flintoff and now Ben Stokes has produced a Flintoff-like spell. Remember the working over of Ricky Ponting and Jacques Kallis?
"Stokes has just done the same to New Zealand's finest. The wicket of Williamson produced a Flintoff-style hands-in-the-air celebration, while the roars haven't been this loud since Freddie was winning the Ashes."
Wow! Just wow! McCullum - New Zealand's captain and one of the finest most destructive batsmen in world cricket - strides to the crease with intent and is sent to trudging back dejectedly one ball later. Stokes' delivery is short and jags back sharply in to McCullum who gets something on it but is unable to prevent the ball coming back of his body and on to the stumps. If Lord's had a roof, it would be on its way to the moon right now.
Phil Tufnell
Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special
"Joe Root has got the salute out, great catch low down off his boot laces but what three balls before, you could feel something was happening and the dangerman goes. Deserved that, because he bowled very well in the first innings. He's on a bit of a roll is Ben Stokes."
