BBC Wales Sport's Dafydd Pritchard at Sophia Gardens:

"While One Direction and the Manic Street Preachers prepare to play at the Millennium Stadium and Cardiff Castle respectively, it's a little more sedate a few yards down the road as Glamorgan host Middlesex.

"There isn't quite the same legion of screaming teenagers inside the Swalec Stadium, but there is a sense of contentment with Glamorgan's steady start."

Glamorgan were flying right up until the end of the ninth over but they lost Craig Meschede in the first ball of the tenth after he was bowled by Neil Dexter for a well made 33.

The hosts are still well on top.

Spin is operating from both ends at Headingley, with Arron Lilley and Stephen Parry building the pressure on Yorkshire.

An excellent diving stop from Liam Livingstone stops a certain Joe Root boundary - much to the dismay of the Western Terrace - before Root and Gary Ballance contend themselves with singles for the rest of the over.

You don't get too many maiden overs in T20 cricket. Wicket-maidens are somewhere between hen's teeth and The Lost City of Atlantis in their rarity, but that's what Fidel Edwards produced with his first over as he dismisses Marcus Trescothick for just the one run.

It's World Boss time at Taunton. Chris Gayle - who has been in decent form, it's fair to say - hits a four off the last ball of Will Smith's first over of the Somerset innings.

Just as it was when Kent were batting, Gloucestershire get their first run from a wide - it's off Matt Coles who is opening the bowling.

Former New Zealand international Hamish Marshall and Australian Michael Klinger with a bright first over for the visitors.

One Direction are in Cardiff tonight but surely the big show tonight is at Sophia Gardens.

Jacques Rudolph is having a great night so far with the Middlesex bowlers leaking plenty of runs. The hosts looking very comfortable with the South African at the helm.

    He's on 37 not out.

  8. Moeen Ali (32 balls, 8 fours, 2 sixes)published at 19:03 British Summer Time 5 June 2015

Moeen Ali is certainly enjoying himself in Northampton tonight as he reaches his half-century with a big six off Shahid Afridi having sent the Pakistan bowler for back-to-back fours.

Having been dropped on nought off a fairly simple chance at slip, Moeen is going along at strike-rate of over 150.

Alex Hales has finally got into his groove as he hits his first six of the match, launching the so far impressive Atif Sheikh for a maximum towards the car park at Trent Bridge.

Sheikh finishes his four overs with 1-30, having had Steven Mullaney caught at extra cover for only four. Despite the young bowler's final over going for 11, the left-arm seamer bowled 11 dot balls. An impressive return for the 24-year-old.

  10. WICKET Bairstow (c Brown b Lilley 18)published at 19:00 British Summer Time 5 June 2015

Joe Root has a lucky escape the as he hits Arron Lilley high into the air but the ball falls short of mid-on.

Jonny Bairstow isn't as lucky. He gets huge power on a pull shot but Karl Brown, who had just moved back to the boundary, takes an excellent catch to dismiss him for 18. Gary Ballance joins Root at the crease.

Joe Root is struggling a little for timing but he advances down the pitch and flays James Faulkner through the covers for four. He repeats the shot the very next ball, dissecting the fielders for another boundary.

Tom Bailey takes over from George Edwards and his second ball is short, wide and slapped for four by Jonny Bairstow. The two Yorkshire youngsters milk the singles to keep the score ticking over.

Alastair Cook has made a quick impact on his return. Jason Roy gave Cook the easiest job of the night at the end of the third over as he caught him at mid-off from the bowling of David Masters.

But Kumar Sangakkara fired back for Surrey as he hit a six and two fours in the following over. The crowd being treated to an entertaining affair tonight.

Moeen Ali is enjoying his time in the middle at Wantage Road as he hits Rory Kleinveldt for consecutive fours before launching David Willey for a huge six over cover to move to 32.

With the boundaries coming with ease in the powerplay, Azharullah's first over goes for 14 with Daryl Mitchell sending the right-arm seamer for a pair of fours.

Alfonso Thomas bowls the final over of the Hampshire innings and it's another tight one. The yorkers are almost perfectly placed and it's just the six runs off the over. You have to imagine Hampshire - who have opener James Vince unbeaten on 64 from 53 balls - would have been hoping for a bit more than that.

Especially if this man gets going again...

Six and gone! Riki Wessels sends Clint McKay's first ball for a maximum before seeing his middle stump go spiralling out of the ground and departs for 18.

Steven Mullaney, who had been down to bat at seven, is sent up the order and after a couple of play and misses he dissects the field and hits his first four of the evening.

Lancashire have fought back well after that blistering first over from Glenn Maxwell. James Faulkner is tidy and neither Joe Root or Jonny Bairstow can get him away.

George Edwards backs up Faulkner's good work before Bairstow helps a leg-side delivery down to the boundary. Root then gets off the mark with a straight drive that only narrowly evades a leaping Alex Davies.

After their impressive 227 at Taunton that saw them beat Somerset, it was much harder work for the Kent Spitfires batting line-up tonight.

They did finish with a six on the final delivery, but opener Daniel Bell-Drummond top scored with 31, while Benny Howell was the pick of the Gloucestershire bowling effort taking 3-18.

Riki Wessels and Alex Hales exchange a boundary each to take 10 off Atif Sheikh but the impressive Ben Raine does well to reign both players in and concede just three runs from his maiden over as Trent Bridge begins to fill up.

Around 10-12,000 people are expected to turn up to watch some big hitting this evening.

It's been a decent start for the hosts with Craig Meschede and Jacques Rudolph at the crease but the openers are yet to find a boundary.

But they do look untroubled from Middlesex's bowlers.
