  1. WICKET Root (c Bailey b Faulkner 55)published at 19:31 British Summer Time 5 June 2015

James Faulkner ends Joe Root's stay with his first ball of his new spell. It's a slower delivery that Root completely miscues. He sends it high into the air - throwing his bat away in the process - and Tom Bailey takes another good catch.

    Time for Tim Bresnan...

Jack Leaning has decided to take the Glenn Maxwell route, smashing his first ball from Arron Lilley for a huge, straight six.

Joe Root joins in, lap-sweeping a boundary, before Leaning lofts the ball for another, straight-driven six. He rounds the over off by drilling the ball back past the bowler for four. Some lovely hitting - that's 22 from the over and just what Yorkshire needed.

Derbyshire have got a bit of control here, removing Phil Mustard for 20 - bowled by Nathan Rimmington - while Shiv Thakor takes the wicket of Graham Clarke, again clean bowling him.

  4. 50 Root (35 balls, 8 fours)published at 19:26 British Summer Time 5 June 2015

Joe Root reaches his third T20 half-century with a scampered two. Lancashire's spinners have done an excellent job of putting the brakes on Yorkshire's innings but Root's contribution has been vital.

  5. WICKET Rudolph (c Abbott b Dexter 60)published at 19:26 British Summer Time 5 June 2015

And Rudolph's innings comes to an end soon after he reached his fifty and seemed to be seizing the initiative against Middlesex. Ben Wright is next at the crease.

  6. WICKET Moeen (c Wakely b Crook 90)published at 19:26 British Summer Time 5 June 2015

Moeen Ali's exhilarating innings is over as Northants captain Alex Wakely takes a brilliant catch off the bowling of Steven Crook to get rid of the free-scoring England all-rounder, two balls after being hit for a straight six.

The right-handed batsman hit 11 fours and five maximums in his innings with his 90 runs coming off only 50 balls.

It gives Northants wickets in consecutive overs after Daryl Mitchell was bowled by Shahid Afridi for 43.

  7. Sangakkara (32 balls, 7 fours, 1 six)published at 19:24 British Summer Time 5 June 2015

It's Kumar Sangakkara's first fifty in the T20 Blast and it might just be what Surrey need to kick start their innings.

Kent finally take their first wicket as Hamish Marshall is caught off the bowling of Mitchell Claydon.

That's the end of the power play overs and that is pretty much all that Gloucestershire would have wanted. It's very much game on though as Kent were 54-1 at this stage.

  9. WICKET Ballance c Brown b Lilley 31)published at 19:22 British Summer Time 5 June 2015

Joe Root hits two fours in two balls to bring up the fifty partnership between himself and Gary Ballance. It's come from 32 balls, which may seem slow but the two are accelerating now.

Ballance tries to flay Arron Lilley over the leg-side but Karl Brown, facing the sun, takes another well-judged catch to break an important partnership. Root is joined by Jack Leaning.

Gary Ballance opens his arms and thrashes Steven Croft for a straight six - Ballance gets such power on it that it bounces off the top of the sight-screen.

Facing Steven Parry, Ballance opens his arms and hits the spinner for two consecutive sixes, one of which hits an unsuspecting security guard on the sidelines. Parry responds with a few slower deliveries but he still concedes 16 from the over.

It had been a steady start for Surrey at The Oval, but they've lost Moises Henriques after he was bowled by Ravi Bopara while Shaun Tait removed Gary Wilson.

They will want to up their run rate but fortunately for them, Kumar Sangakkara has hit 43 and is still at the crease.

Northants are really being made to pay for dropping both Moeen Ali and Daryl Mitchell for nought in consecutive overs.

Moeen looks in excellent touch as he pulls Kleinveldt over the advertising hoardings for his fourth maximum of the evening to move on to 77 from only 43 balls.

Not wanting to be left behind Mitchell launches the South African for a pair of fours as he races on to 42 off 29 balls. The Rapids are batting rather rapidly.

  14. Rudolph (33 balls, 8 fours)published at 19:19 British Summer Time 5 June 2015

  15. Hales (39 balls, 4 fours, 3 sixes)published at 19:19 British Summer Time 5 June 2015

Fidel Edwards looks like a man possessed out there with the ball in hand, fizzing a snorter of a ball past Peter Trego which has the Somerset man wondering what day of the week it is, such is its almost mystical qualities. He's conceded just five runs from his two overs. There's more than just one West Indian star in form at Taunton...

Joe Root breaks the spin shackles as he slog-sweeps Arron Lilley to the boundary but the rest of the over is limited to singles.

Steven Croft returns to the attack and Gary Ballance welcomes him by thrashing his first ball to the off-side boundary. Root then sweeps a leg-side delivery for four to leave Croft with figures of 2-0-29-0. Ouch.

It's been an excellent start in the reply for Gloucestershire with Michael Klinger (22) and Hamish Marshall (11) doing their best to silence the home fans.

Kent themselves had a bright opening before fading throughout their innings though

  19. Postpublished at 19:15 British Summer Time 5 June 2015

Alex Hales is leading Nottinghamshire's recovery, having taken 10 off Tom Wells first two balls before dissecting the field twice to send Clint McKay for two fours to move on to 42 off only 34 balls.

Ex-Zimbabwe batsman Brendan Taylor is ticking along at the other end at a run-a-ball 13 as he looks to give the lion's share of the strike to his partner.
