The crowd want to see more of this from Taylor. England want more of it. This could be the match which re-ignites the series and Sarah Taylor's form.

  2. Eng 33-1published at 5.2 overs

Sarah Coyte replaces fellow right-arm seamer Schutt - but Taylor takes a step down the track and hammers a four through extra cover. Lovely shot.

Edwards was apoplectic after that delivery wasn't called a no-ball for height.

  4. Eng 27-1 (Edwards 15, Taylor 10)published at 5 overs

Vintage Sarah Taylor - crouching down to use the pace of the ball and ramp Perry over fine leg for four. A single takes her into double figures. Edwards then has to face a brute of a waist-high full toss but she despatches it through long leg for four.

This is almost like the Lanning-Perry partnership equivalent for England.

And that's Edwards's 300th boundary in 85 Twenty20 internationals. The leader in men's T20 international cricket is Brendon McCullum with 1999.

One of the common themes in county cricket is how do you get Charlotte Edwards out? The answer is you run her out because with the bat it is almost impossible.

  8. Eng 17-1 (target 123)published at 4 overs

Taylor clips Schutt through mid-wicket for two, though Edwards had to hurry. I'm sure even the England captain herself would concede that with her 36th birthday on the horizon (17 December if you want to send a card), she's not the quickest between the wickets. Plenty of quick singles keep the pressure on, before Edwards takes advantage of the field being up to guide a four through the covers.

England's best over yet, but why do I get the feeling they'll win this by nine wickets or lose it by 30 runs?

Why is it I always get a little more nervous when Sarah Taylor comes to the crease? Because it could be something incredible.

  11. Eng 7-1 (Perry 2-0-4-1)published at 3 overs

Sarah Taylor in at three - and there's a big cheer from the Chelmsford crowd as Perry is charged with a wide outside off stump. Taylor, batting in a long-sleeved shirt and sleeveless sweater, is off the mark with a single off her legs.

That was a nothing shot from Winfield. She almost lashed out in anger because that score is just five runs from two overs.

    Winfield c Villani b Perry 1 (Eng 5-1)

England are dawdling a little here - and when Winfield tries to force the pace, she lifts the ball to mid-on and is easily caught by Elyse Villani, who is the only player fielding bare-headed and has recently added a dark streak to her shock of blonde hair. She celebrates with Perry as Winfield departs - caught Elyse, bowled Ellyse.

One big innings is all it needs for potentially saving the Ashes. I think it is a below par total from Australia - I would have expected them to score more but it is a tough one because how do England approach it? Go all guns blazing or slow and steady?

  15. Eng 4-0 (Edwards 3, Winfield 1)published at 2 overs

Right-arm seamer Megan Schutt, who's had a good series with the ball, takes the second over - and Edwards is nearly caught out of her crease as she chops the ball down towards the keeper. Some good hustle brings England some quick singles, but it's not an explosive start by the hosts.

It looks like Winfield is batting out of her crease to try and distract Perry.

  17. Eng 1-0 (target 123)published at 1 over

Edwards, the top run-scorer in women's T20 internationals, takes four balls to get off the mark as she guides a two through mid-wicket. Winfield plays her first ball back to the bowler as though we're still in Test match mode, and hits the last straight to a fielder to end a tight first over.

All to play for here. For Charlotte Edwards she will be looking to do something Australia couldn't and rotate the strike.

Ellyse Perry will take the new ball at the Hayes Close End - bowling to a determined-looking Charlotte Edwards, who's accompanied to the middle by Lauren Winfield.
