  1. Eng 149-9 (target 242)published at 42 overs

Anya Shrubsole "isn't really a number 11" according to TMS's Izzy Westbury, "she's better than that" - but both sides are rather going through the motions here as Shrubsole takes a single off her first ball.

She had to get on with it, and was bowled aiming a wild yahoo to cow corner.

    Elwiss b Beams 7 (Eng 148-9)

Elwiss goes out in a blaze of glory - a big slog is high, wide and not particularly handsome, and she's bowled by Beams.

Brunt and Shrubsole bowled economically, but if you look at the Australian seamers, their four all bowled well. And this series hasn't really been one for the spinners.

  5. Eng 146-8 (target 242)published at 41 overs

Coyte continues, this is her last over, she'll be the first Aussie to finish her spell today - Elwiss drives to extra cover where the ball bounces just in front of the diving Alex Blackwell, who's an excellent fielder. Coyte finishes with 2-38 from her 10, and England need a theoretical 96 from 54 balls.

Australia have just been better in all departments today.

In by a mile. But if you have a third umpire, you might as well use him!

  8. Umpire reviewpublished at 40.1 overs

A quick single from Elwiss, Bolton throws to the stumps, Healy takes the bails off and they go upstairs...

  9. Eng 142-8 (Elwiss 5*, Gunn 3*)published at 40 overs

Elwiss drills Beams to long-off for a single, the leggie is still bowling quite fast and flat, and a couple more singles mean England need a round 100 from 10 overs to pull off one of the most unlikely victories of the year.

  10. Eng 139-8 (target 242)published at 39 overs

Jenny Gunn, with an ODI average of nearly 20 from 125 ODIs, is probably too good to be batting number 10 (having batted the majority of her career between five and eight), but that's her job today. She's off the mark with a single. England need 103 from 66 balls.

I don't blame her for trying that. I prefer to see people getting out like that than sweeping or hitting round the corner.

    Marsh c Blackwell b Coyte 0 (Eng 138-8)

Sadly for England, this is becoming a procession - Laura Marsh, needing to force the pace, hits the ball straight to extra cover and is out without scoring.

  13. Eng 137-7 (target 242)published at 38 overs

Elwiss nudges a single to steal the strike from new batter Laura Marsh, and ends a pretty sorry powerplay for England, in which they scored 23 runs and lost three wickets.

There's a delay between overs - it looks like a pushchair being moved from behind the bowler's arm? Now, it's the ground staff being summoned - umpire Wharf is concerned about footmarks and summons some sawdust. A gigantic wheelbarrow is brought out, containing all sorts of equipment, to effect repairs.

I'm not sure sweeping is the right option on this track. One of Sciver's strengths is hitting down the ground and I would have liked to see her hit straighter.

  15. wicket

    Sciver c Farrell b Beams 2 (Eng 136-7)

Sciver sweeps at the leg-spinner, gets a top edge and is easily caught at short fine leg. The most relieved woman on the field is Beams, who had just dropped a fierce caught-and-bowled chance a couple of deliveries before.

Duckworth-Lewis? England are about 60 behind. Safe to say rain can't, and won't, save them.

  16. Eng 135-6 (target 242)published at 37 overs

Georgia Elwiss is in at eight - England have two new batters in. Just a couple of singles from Coyte's over - though it finishes with four byes - and I'm already fearing the game might be up for England. They need 107 from 78 balls.

They've been a little frantic with their running, England. They might have made it if they'd just kept going.

Brunt run out 31 (Eng 129-6)

...and just about anything does happen. Brunt hits the ball to point, sets off for a run, Sciver starts and then stops, Brunt is stranded halfway down the track and it's an easy run-out as Coyte's throw is gathered by keeper Healy.

A mixed bag of an over from Beams finishes. Her figures will say 1-0-5-0 but won't tell half of the story.

  19. Eng 126-5published at 35,1 overs

Speak the leg-spinner's name and she'll be brought on! Kristen Beams, who didn't have the best of games at Taunton (taking 1-52) but is back in the side today, comes on for the 36th over. Her first ball is driven for two by Brunt, and her second flies out of her hand and lands at cover point! It's called as a no-ball. Just about anything could happen here...

  20. Eng 124-5 (target 242)published at 35 overs

New batter Natalie Sciver has to jam her bat down on a yorker from Coyte, the ball hits her back leg and nearly bowls her. But she survives for now.

And I've just realised, leg-spinner Kristen Beams hasn't bowled at all yet... will it be too late to bring her in now? On the evidence of that four she let through earlier, I don't think she's in the side as a specialist fielder...
