"Missing? A bit of sympathy for the umpire then as he wasn't far wrong - but he was wrong. It caught him on the back leg as though it was going to hit leg stump. Rashid thought he had his man there."

  2. Pak 31-3published at 13.3 overs

It's not hitting the stumps. Sorry Adil. Sorry Ebony. DRS suggests the ball would have skidded on and just missed the leg stump. What a shame for Rashid, who could really have done with a confidence-boosting wicket.

"It's definitely going on to hit the stumps. He's wondering if he got a bit of bat on it."

"It took an awful long time for the umpire to raise his finger, and Pakistan reviewed it straight away."

  5. Pakistan reviewpublished at 13.3 overs

England think they've got another. Rashid hits Malik on the pad and the finger goes up. But was it in line? Pakistan want another look...

  6. Pak 29-3 (Azhar 15, Malik 3)published at 13 overs

Woakes keeping a very tight line here and Shoaib Malik can only manage a single off the last ball.

"It's not confidence I'm worried about with Adil Rashid, it's consistency. It's more than the odd one here and there, his full tosses are very loose."

  10. Pak 28-3published at 12 overs

Great opportunity for Adil Rashid, who gets to ball with a new batsman at the crease and England completely in control of the game. He begins well enough - four singles from his first over.

"He tried to do too much there and completely scuffed it. Big pressure here for Pakistan. But it makes such a difference for England with more runs on the board."

"Dear me. That was one of the worst balls we've seen from England, a long-hop, to mid-on. Good catch from Willey, you can't keep him out of it, and Chris Woakes has a rather knowing smile on his face. He got away with that one."

Azhar had relieved a bit of the pressure with a boundary, but debutant Iftikhar was still itching to get his own score ticking. He completely mistimes a pull and the ball arcs to mid-on, where David Willey takes a really good running catch.

"That's the first obvious sign of panic from Pakistan. Iftikhar pushed the ball straight to Taylor and set off, Azhar said 'no way' and Iftikhar was out if it had hit. The screw is tightening, increasing the pressure and mistakes will be made,"

The pressure almost tells when Iftikhar gets himself stranded down the pitch in search of a much-needed single - Morgan would have got him with a direct hit. Neither of these two are natural one-day shotmakers and it shows. Iftikhar can't beat the infield from any of Topley's six deliveries, and it's a maiden.

"Pakistan are showing no signs at all of even trying to break loose."

  17. Pak 19-2 (target 284)published at 9 overs

Willey is really tightening the thumbscrews here - another naggingly accurate over keeps Pakistan under the cosh, just two off it.

"Increasingly, captains don't think about saving a bowler for later if it's 'going well', because of how destructive batsmen can be. If it's going well, keep them going! Azhar Ali is behind the rate and England will really want to keep the squeeze on Iftikhar, making his debut.

  19. Pak 17-2published at 8 overs

Some really good fielding from England in the ring - James Taylor doesn't have the longest arms but he does superbly to fling them into the path of a crisply-struck drive from Iftikhar. England turning up the heat on the debutant, but he finally gets away off his 12th delivery, hammering Topley off the back foot for four.
