"It's a huge asset in T20 cricket if you can produce a wildcard that noone has ever seen before it buys you some time and gives you an advantage.

"Of course he's got to be pretty good but England have never seen Yamin bowl before and he surprised Jason Roy."

Sohail Tanvir, a left-arm seamer, has one of the weirdest bowling actions in world cricket. It's almost as if he's got three arms and three legs as he skips in and whips through the crease. Pakistan are buzzing in the field and fielders rush to congratulate a team-mate when he makes a superb stop in the circle. I counted two pats on the back and one on the bum.

"It was coming straight back at Sohail hard but given his history with catches in the series you were always backing the white ball there."

This is only Pakistan’s second T20I in Sharjah; they claimed a six-wicket victory against Afghanistan previously in December 2013. They've made a great start today - and almost take a second wicket but Sohail Tanvir can't take a difficult return catch at head height which is offered up by James Vince.

"I think Vince up the order is quite a good idea - he sees himself as a top three batsman and opens for Hampshire all the time.

"Hales misses out but has got a busy time ahead of him in the Test squad

"Whoever goes in number 11 it will be the best number 11 in the world."

  6. Eng 3-1 (England won toss)published at 1 over

What a fantastic opening over. Joe Root joins James Vince at the crease, and both men are off the mark with nudges into gaps.

"It's been given - it's the end of Jason Roy and what a T20 international debut start for Yamin. A very skiddy delivery, skipped off the surface back in to the right hander and Roy is on his way back to the pavilion."

It's perhaps as well that England bat deep...

Aamer Yamin, who is making his T20 debut for Pakistan today, hustles in and nips one back into Jason Roy's pads. The finger goes up. Delight for the debutant, who becomes the first Pakistani to take a wicket with his first ball on his T20 debut. There's been 11 in total around the world.

"Looking back at the one-day game here the amount of turn was noticeable but Mohammad Irfan got a lot of bounce and him being back in means Pakistan will be looking to exploit that here."

"If you look at the batting order being so strong all the way down it can work both ways.

"Maybe not so much in T20 cricket but the ones at the top might not take on as much responsibility and that can cause a problem."

Now back to today's cricket though - and all the talk is of England having a number 11 who has 10 first-class centuries to his name...

  12. Cairns cleared of perjurypublished at 15:56

We're about to get under way, but first some news from earlier in the day if, like the Bangles, you've had a Manic Monday.

It concerns former New Zealand cricketer Chris Cairns, who has been cleared of perjury and perverting the course of justice.

Cairns, 45, was accused at Southwark Crown Court of falsely declaring under oath during a 2012 libel case that he had "never, ever cheated at cricket".

During that libel case he had successfully sued Indian Premier League chairman Lalit Modi for accusing him on Twitter of match-fixing.

Speaking outside court, the retired all-rounder said it had been "hell".

    More on that here.

Paul Collingwood, part of England's limited-overs coaching staff, on Sky Sports: "The players have realised that the approach they had against Australia and New Zealand in the English summer can work in all conditions.

"They are a naturally aggressive bunch, so they want to go out there and put on a show.

"It's nice to know what the players can do. You have to give them opportunity and responsibility. If you can got to a World Cup knowing there are 16 players at the top of their game, it's a great position to be in."

"But with this England team at the moment you really can pull names out of a hat and to see Rashid down the order shows the strength in depth."

Since the series has been won wouldn't it make sense when winning the toss you put pressure on your team and bowl and see how they react to that? #justsaying.
