10:09They're not often overturned are they? It is going over, well over, in fact. Bavuma, though, is getting some treatment on his elbow after taking a blow earlier in the over. There are just under 20 minutes until lunch.

10:08SA 112-4: Bavuma on 2
Now, this is a decent shout against Temba Bavuma. Stokes swinging the ball back in. Alastair Cook thinks it's a good enough for a second look. Too high?

Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special"Hashim Amla has been the rock for South Africa. His shot selection is very, very good, it's been an exhibition in how to play on a tricky wicket, and as soon as he gets a scoring opportunity he maximises it."

43 oversBlowers is right. Stokes is averaging 67 with the bat and 27 with the ball in this series. Half an hour before lunch, can England get one or even two more? Amla is the big prize, with the former skipper grinding it out in painstaking fashion. He guides Woakes to third man for three. I wonder if that might be it for Woakes for a little while.

09:58Replays don't make that shot of Duminy's look any better, especially when you think he was just batting his team into a winning position. Temba Bavuma the new man, immediately sniffing some of Stokes' leather.

Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special"JP Duminy is a frustration for me. He's a gifted player but he just gets out playing silly strokes - here off a flashing wide delivery by Ben Stokes. He's got more than that.
"England need a period of play like South Africa had pre-lunch yesterday..."

Hope for England! Just when the match is being taken out of sight, Ben Stokes keeps the fire smouldering. He's helped by JP Duminy, who had looked very good before playing a pretty awful drive at a ball that simply wasn't there for the shot. Loose outside off stump, a thick edge through to Jonny Bairstow. Game back on?

Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special"South Africa have just got to give themselves every opportunity to go on and get 10 wickets. Giving yourself 120 overs to do it should be enough. That would leave about 40 overs more to bat, and a score of about 365 will be more than enough than anyone's got in the game. If you can get there sooner, pull in and have a bowl."

09:52Chris Woakes has a Test bowling average of 59. This is his sixth match and one of his problems has been never getting a sustained run in the side. Only one slip for Amla now, with the ball not even hinting at moving in the air. Has the win gone for England? You'd think they'd need another two wickets before lunch.

40 oversThe live text desk is briefly excited by the appearance of who we think might be Tina Arena outside the BBC office. We're not entirely sure who Tina Arena is, but a small group of autograph hunters do. Still Stokes under some fluffy white clouds. Duminy, as comfortable as he has been all series, in content.

09:43England think something might have happened here. Woakes to Amla, leg side, off the third pad. The diving Jonny Bairstow does well to cling on and England appeal. Bat? Not according to umpire Kumar Dharmasena. Review? No. Right call from England.

38 oversWhat can England do here? Ask Stuart Broad for another bit of magic? Or start thinking about batting four sessions to save this match? Stokes again, still with the short stuff, that provides Duminy with the minor inconvenience of a blow to the hand. Think skipper, think.

Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special"England chose Moeen Ali to bowl at JP Duminy because he's struggled against off-spin over the years, but it's changed the momentum of the game. The seamers were doing such a good job. Anderson bowled a really high-class spell."

09:35The tide has turned. In the silent sunshine of Centurion, South Africa are moving towards an impregnable position. Seventy more runs or so and they will be pretty much out of sight. Chris Woakes bangs the middle of the track, but there's no trouble there.
